Commercial Description:
This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum. O.G. 1.072 84.2 IBU

12oz bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with a thin off-white head. Hoppy aroma with some malty caramel sweetness and a touch of alcohol. Very crisp with a malty sweet flavor up front and a big hop finish. Fantastic beer.

Pours deep red with aromas of caramelized sugars and deep fruit. Flavor of buttered toast, caramel, and a sweetness almost like honey. Also a very nice bitter hop on the end. Full bodied.

Red colored with a decent head. Strong hop aroma and flavor. Keeps a good brussels lace. Good balance for such a strong beer.

Bottle thanks to Lagunitasfan. Thanks for the hook up. Pours a dark red color with a large and fluffy white head, and lots of lacing. The aroma is nice; lots of hops, some rich caramel. The flavor is great; a huge caramel aspect, sweet and rich, some citrus hops some in strong also. The caramel malt is perfect to balance out the hops, not bitter but balanced. Very nice.

Well. I’m drunk, which might sway my rating. It’s big. It’s bold. It’s red. It has a slight sourness on the finish. It kinda reminds me of an IPA, but with some sweet and sour notes. Not the best beer, but not the worst. I think I like their more traditional styles better than this. Cheers!

Pours deep mahogany red into a trappist glass. Head quickly recedes to hug rim. Brown sugar aromas. Thick upfront with sweet brown sugar and a nice resin hop finish.

APPEARANCE: Pours a clear copper color with a medium off-white head that has average retention. Lots of sticky lacing. AROMA: Powerful big earthy/citrusy hops, brown sugar, biscuit like malts. Hint of peach. TASTE: Rich sticky hops (grapefruit comes to mind) that is well balanced with caramel like sweet malts. You can also taste the alcohol. MOUTHFEEL: Full bodied creamy almost sticky mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. DRINKABILITY: Big flavor, yum! Very nice balance of bitter hops and sweet malts. This is a pretty rich beer so you can’t drink too many of them. NOTES: BBCSD-0812-Corey

12oz bottle from Lagunitasfan. Pours clear deep reddish amber with nice light tan head. Aroma is full with malts, hops, citrus and some spices. Flavor heavy on malt and hops with some citrus and spices. Nice thick mouthfeel with good carbonation. Good full flavored strong ale that ends with some bitterness and a touch of sweetness. Solid ale.
