| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 22, 2008 (Bottle) Pours dark amber to reddish brown with a medium, creamy off-white head. The aroma is medium hoppy and sweet with the typical Lagunita-ish tones of tea, light spices and flowers alongside some notes of citrus/mild grapefruit and mild pine. The malt brings toast, caramel, white bread and a faint hint of roasted grain. Undertones of alcohol, suede and red berries. The flavour is medium hoppy and medium malty with tones of citrus - oranges, and grapefruit, dry resin, flowers, pine, caramel, light chocolate roast, light earth and black tea. The mouthfeel is soft, light smooth and velvety with a light carbonation and a notable numbing alcohol touch. Light to medium sweet and medium bitter with a medium dry finish. Medium to full body. If you inject steroids in to a boring style (like red ale) and try to make it “cool”, you often end up with a paranoid mess, this one is quite ok, but still noting more than a über malty and pretty boring IPA. Full bodied malt character but not heavy. Fresh bitterness cuts through and ends this good beer. NMC01 (58), Denmark

A bit sweet but with a great hoppy counterweight in the end. Easy to drink and one my favourite Lagunitas brews. OldRaspy (292), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 8, 2008 What a fantastic tasting brew. Overall it satisfied me entirely. It pours a deep copper body with a super malted aroma and a kicking hop finish. The first initial taste is full and it slowly bubbles and carbonates creamy like in your mouth. While it is a red ale, it has a powerful citrus hop aroma that reminds me of an IPA in disguise. Tastey, tastey! kwoeltje (1315), Manchester, Missouri, USA
