MadIndian (987), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA May 10, 2008 Bottle from Canals. A hazy copper pour with thin white head. Carmel malt aroma with a caramel/toffee and hop taste that finishes dry. Pretty good. blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA May 10, 2008 Pretty decent all around. I liked this beer, definitely a fan of red ales. This one I would recommend as an intermediate beer. jcr (1139), Jasper, Indiana, USA May 4, 2008 Updated: May 18, 2008Bottle. Lots of hops in this strong ale. In fact, the aroma presents the hops, but the flavor presents the heavy use of malts. Dark copper body with off-white head. Aroma is mainly hoppy with notes of resin and grapefruit, especially grapefruit. Also hints of caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Finish is bitter and sticks around for awhile. Medium body with a smooth’velvety texture. Average carbonation. OK balance between sweet and bitter and somewhat average beer.
bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA May 2, 2008 Surprised me. Poured a amberish color with small head and good lacing. Aroma was a little like pinesol ugh. Flavor was pine and citrus hops caramel malts in there. Nothing amazing just from the aroma expected worse. ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 29, 2008 orange, reddish colour with a white head. Hoppy fruity aroma with a note of pine needles. Light malty sweet flavor with some fruity and piney notes. Hoppy, bitter finish. Hoptagon (132), Arlington, Virginia, USA Apr 28, 2008 12 oz. Bottle. Coppery colored with a medium off white head. Aroma has a bit of pine and some toasted crystal malt character. Flavor emphasizes the bittering hops, but has a solid malt profile to keep it from being harsh. Some toasted biscuit flavor and mild sweetness are detectable through the hops. Mouthfeel is well done, beer doesn’t feel too thin or heavy on the tongue. Finish is largely bitter and lingering. Another solid brew from Lagunitas. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Apr 24, 2008 pours a cloudy chunky brown red with full white thick head. sweet sugar malt aroma. milky smooth palate with dry hop bitter finish. malty front to middle. wet aftertaste. tomciccateri (496), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Apr 21, 2008 Pours a clear deep mahoganny with a thick wjhite head. Medium bodied with an even flavor balance, mellow dry/sweet balance. slight hop bitterness into finish.
