Apr 5, 2008 12 oz bottle. Nice frothy head and a pleasant hop aroma with bits of citrus, pine and toffee. Very sweet malt backbone that really took away from the experience for me. A bit cloying which seems to be the norm for these styles. A rich caramel component that went well with a bit of the biscuit present was about the only component I could get into. Overall, seemed out of sorts and not very well balanced. Really not my cup of tea.

Apr 2, 2008 Red copper colored body with an average head. Very balanced as far as the malt/hops combination goes. Caramel and citrus fruit combination. Fairly hoppy although it is well balanced. My first Lagunitas beer and it’s a good start from this West Coast brewer.

Apr 2, 2008 Pours a clear amber/copper with a frothy white head and nice lacing. Aroma is sweet hops, fruit and some citrus. Flavor is sweet toasted malt and a good deal of pacific NW hops. Dry hoppy finish, sticky texture.

Mar 31, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a longlasting off-white head. Malty hoppy and slightly piney aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter flavor flavor with some hints of pine needles. Sweetish malty finish with a dry hoppy bitter aftertaste.

Mar 30, 2008 A very decent Red. This is a great tap beer. Hoppy but not overbearing. Enough malt to counter the hops. Killians on growth hormones.

Mar 26, 2008 Poured reddish black color from a 12 oz. bottle with a medium head that quickly faded, nice webing on glass! Has a great malty aroma and also reminded me of a candy sucker. Taste is quite nice with huge sweet malty backbone with a silky smooth mouthfeel. Finish is damn good, subtle hop flavor with bitter dry finish. Overall this beer is excellent, my 2nd beer from Lagunitas and both were top notch.

Mar 16, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of Secret Santa. Pours a cloudy brown (where’s the red?) with a thin tan head that lasted through about two-thirds of the glass and left some spotty lacing. The aroma reminded me of an IPA with notes of grapefruit and some caramel. The flavor is caramel up front with some brown sugar sweetness and some grapefruit as well. Not nearly as bitter as the hoppy aroma would suggest, which is just fine with me. Nice caramel smoothness in the mouthfeel. Enjoyable.
