Dedollewaitor (3622), Odense, Denmark Jan 9, 2008 35,5cl. bottle. Amber/copper with a creamy white head. Nicely hopped aroma - grapefruity/piney & a slight sweet malty note. Well balanced, soft & full bodied. Power fruity hoppy - but still pleasant in a nice way. Lasting bitter end. Good drinkability! Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark Jan 4, 2008 Clear amber orange apperance with an ok head. Hops and red fruits dominates the aroma. Some bready and light peppery notes in there also. Fruity and flower hoppy flavor with a good bitterness and a malty sweetness backing it up. Has a nice little bite on the tongue. Flavor full and nicely balanced. I like Lagunitas, all their beers are good and generally it is just a cool brewery. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 31, 2007 Draught from Mr. Dunderbak’s. Dark amber body, very rusty with a nice, thick off white head. Great retention and some nice drip lacing. Nose of grapefruits, oranges, citrus hops, grassy fields, caramel malts and honeysuckle. Flavor is very similar, heavy on the citrus hops and bitterness, but always with a sweet malt backbone to balance everything out. A really pronounced honey sweetness picks up about midway through and carries on. Medium bodied, very style appropriate. Bitterly astringent throughout, but kept in check and nothing to fault the beer for. Sweet, lengthy finish that immediately picks up a jolt of citrus and hops that lasts until the bitter end. Great beer, another very impressive offering from Lagunitas. Glad to see them so prevalent in the area, especially on draught. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Dec 26, 2007 12oz bottle. Clear reddish amber with a lacing beige head. Fruity and flowery aroma with hops, honey and a little smoke. Flavor is sweet and malty with plenty of hops and a moderately bitter finish. A little salty too. medium body with soft carbonation and a slightly sticky finish. Overall, it has great balance and a good spectrum of pleasant flavors. Nothing overwhelms, and quite drinkable for the strength. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA Dec 23, 2007 Quick diminshing off white head. Very lively carbonated. Citrus hops aroma (grapefruit and lemon). Nice bitterness up from with a bit of sour mixed in. Nice balance of bitterness and maltiness. Bitterness does linger on the tongue, but not in a bad way. Alcohol nice really apparent. Nice beer. beerking99 (199), USA Dec 22, 2007 Pours deep amber-red, with a large cream-colored head that leaves a heavy lace. Aroma is West Coast hops, crystal malt (probably fairly dark), unfortunately marred by a green apple-like acetylaldehyde note. The good news is that the acetylaldehyde is not very strong in the flavor, which is all dark crystal and West Coast hops. Finish is really nice, leaving a sweet malt tail that begs for more. TopherDrinks (96), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Dec 20, 2007 Small bottle. Great appearance. Pours a dark amber with a two finger thick off white head, with good effervescence. Aromas of sweet malts combined with floral and grapefruit hops. The nose is very fruity. First thing I notice is the frothy mouth feel. Very bitter from start to finish, mostly grapefruit with very little malt sweetness. This beer leaves some amazing lacing...or should I say a foam covering all the way down the glass! Once my mouth gets acclimated with the strong hops, there is a whole lot of candy sweetness in the body. Could have done with a little less hops..but this is an American Strong Ale, and Lagunitas makes sure to keep the trend of hoppy domestic ales. The appearance and mouth feel is what did it for me. BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Dec 17, 2007 WOW. Absolutely beautiful pour. Amber red mahogany, with a offwhite perfectly sudsy sans thick sud foam thing ample lacing.....its like that head you get from a coke float....or jenna jameson. Taste is sweetly hoppy, and well balanced hops. Very floral and even some toffee and salt water taffy notes. Ends on a grapefruit note, and bites back a bit more. kudos to the sonoma’s!
