Commercial Description:
This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum. O.G. 1.072 84.2 IBU

Dark copper with short lived thin head and some spotty lacing. Very apparent sweet malt aroma with a twist of hops(floral). Carmel, toffee, and malts. peach and hops on the finish.

Bottle sampled. Pours a dark copper with a small beigh head. Aroma of sweet malt, citrus, grapefruit, and some floral hops. Flavor is full bodied with caramel sweetness, fruit, brown sugar, piney hops, and some notes of toffee with a crisp bitter finish. Another stellar lagunitas brew.

Average ruby red color, tiny head.Pine/citrus hops hit me first, some sweetness in the aftertaste. Smooth on the palette, with lingering bitterness. Almost an IPA character to it.

Pours dark red with a nice white head and lacing. Aroma is strong citrus hops with some sweet malty brown sugar accents. Mostly hoppy in the flavor. Strong grapefruit is somewhat balanced by some toffee flavor. Finishes with a lingering grapefruit bitterness/dryness. I could drink quite a few of these at 7.6% and get hammer smashed face!

Big floral hop nose and off white frothy head are wonderful for my senses. The palate starts out with a grapefruit bitterness that comes across the palate rather cleanly. Mostly balanced in the hop department, but maybe a tinge favoring the bittering hops. Long earthy/fruity finish. Overall, a nice enjoyable beer that is easy to drink for 7.6% abv.

Extremley strong hoppy IPA with a clear red brilliant visual look. The aroma is a dusty hoppy aroma with a fruity backsplash. The appearance is exceptional. The head is a tinted orange sponge with lasting bubbles and good lacing. Peak flavor abounds and the palate is strong and piercing. A little on the hoppy side for me, but it also does have the sense of grapefruit that others discribe. It is a very complete complex beer with tremendous visual and tasteful senses.

Draft, consumed at Lucky Baldwin’s in Pasadena on 12/03/07. Dark, coppery color with modest carbonation and thin head. Aroma: grapefruit hops. Strong malt flavor initially that phases into strong grapefruit hop finish. Well balanced. Almost no aftertaste. Only problem was, when the beer warmed up a bit, it turned into pure hop juice as the malt flavor vanished. Ack! Couldn’t finish the pint.
