Commercial Description:
This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum. O.G. 1.072 84.2 IBU

Amber color; creamy head. Nice aroma, with toffee and resiny hop. Good body strength, round mouthfeel, malty flavor, with caramel, toffee and a strong hopping, a bit fruity and resiny. Mellow Strong Ale.

Clear copper color with an off white head. Nice medium strong piney hop smell. Medium to full bodied. Softly carbonated with a creamy mouthfeel. Strong, sweet malt bready flavor followed with a decent hop bitterness. The big malt presence here with nice hops makes for a great brew. may 2005

Lovely stuff. Bottle. Poured deep KWV red with a thick white foam head. Aroma of malt and hops. Big malty flavour with hoppy finish. Very smooth Let it warm a bit and it’s even better.

Special Release, I picked up a six pack a while back and have been enjoying a bottle or two every so often. I hope this beer finds itself in some form of yearly rotation because it’s too damn good to not be readily available. Wonderful dark amber color, 2" billowing off white head that ultimately settles into a nice thickness and leaving behind some hearty lacing. Aroma is a bold flowery hop bouquet and fresh baked breads. Amazing mouth feel that has a full malt body with a striking hop bitterness. Balanced, creamy, and filling the beer rolls down the back of the throat with satisfying ease. Flavor is thick and malty with a prominent taste of overly floral hops. Grapefruit, citrus, and pine that adds a great bitter-sweet and creamy taste. This is fantastic.

Sampled as part of a six pack. Pours very nice releasing sweet aromas. Had a very nice head that was frothy and yummy. Beer had a nice heavy hoppy flavor. Quite a nice beer.

Not too sure what the "Imperial" means here, but this is truly a beautiful red. Not too hoppy, not too malty, just perfect. Hops do appear in the aroma but not too much in the mouth. The throat is truly malty as their ad says. Great beer. Gan Bei!

Poured with a nice bubbly red amber color. Really cleared up with some time. The head thinned out quikcly but has left a few pockets of bubbles. Had a solid hoppy aroma. More malty and smooth than most imperials. Very clean then seems to expand on the tounge.
