ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 4, 2007 Appearance: Pours a marvelously clear copper body with a white, diminishing head. The lacing was thin and uneven.
Smell: Caramel malts in the nose with a nice bit of toastiness. The hops are piney with fruity undertones.
Taste: Light bready caramel malts joined by crisp, hoppy flavors of pine resins and grapefruit. Very tea-like at times. Herbaceous hops round out the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, with a pleasingly smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Though the hops can be a little cutting at times its a rather likeable red ale, and quite quaffable. gunnfryd (3539), Kristiansand, Norway May 3, 2007 Bottle. Copper colour with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, hop,, fruit, malt. Flavour is sweet, hop, fruit, malt, alcohol. Bitter finish. Too much bitterness. jarspag (593), Los Angeles, California, USA May 2, 2007 Updated: Jul 13, 2007Deep reddish color - pretty lively level of carbonation. mmmm, I like this one - big and hoppy, nice lingering bitter finish - pretty dense mouthfeel. Makes me want to lick my lips - much more enjoyable for me than most of their other beers I’ve tried. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA May 2, 2007 Bottle from Saarlander. Lots of caramel malt--heavy aroma. Dark golden brown with red highlights. Medium to full palate. Hoppy up front, but that quickly fades into a malt flavor that is strong. Nice caramel flavor with hints of vanilla. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Apr 29, 2007 Bottle. Bomber. Clear, copper-colored beer with a beige head. Hoppy flavor with beef-stock, malt, some sweetness and caramel. There’s hops, alcohol, malt, sweetness and beefstock in the flavor. Quite bitter in the mouth, with malt and hops to finish it off. A nice beer, but there’s too much hops to balance it. (070413) spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Apr 27, 2007 Very heavy malt in the aroma.Pours a deep copper with a medium off white head. The flavor is big malt, vanilla and some nice hops as well.Full mouthfeel with a huge malt finish. nramsburg (200), New York, New York, USA Apr 18, 2007 I like this beer but I suppose I was expecting something with a bit more malt. Very strongly hopped on the finish with a fairly medium body. Slight carmel right at the beginning. DrededBrethren (10), Palm, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 11, 2007 Honey-like alcohol sweetness and a moderate citrus hop aroma. Copper in color with a long-lasting off-white head. Initial taste was aggressively bitter, but upon second taste the hop bitterness blended very nicely with the low caramel malt flavor and citrusy hop bouquet. A piney hop bitterness lingers in the aftertaste.
Nice Red. Medium-bodied and hopped like it should.
