MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA Dec 1, 2006 Courtesy of TBC2. 12 oz bottle: poured dark orange with virtually no head even after a semi-aggressive pour. The beer is too cold presently. After warming up, it pours a medium sized off white head. Moderate caramel and fairly big hop aroma. Massive bitterness in the finish with mild metallic notes. Decent but I need some sweet malts. scoobyluv (486), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Nov 20, 2006 i think i was drunk when i wrote this cuz i didn’t write much. just wrote hoppy flavor with a sweet taste. informative, i know Cliff (355), Avon Lake, Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2006 Bottle thanks to Goldtwins. Pours an amber red with a thick off white head. aromas of citrusy and piney hops. Was expecting a little more malt, but i was not disappointed with what I got. Rich hop flavor balanced by a caramely maltyness. Smooth bitterness throughout with slightly thick, resiny mouthfeel. Very good beer. The Imperial Red name throws off what I was expecting, but it still delived! jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Nov 20, 2006 12oz. bottle. Clear copper color with a medium sized beige head. Nice aroma of caramel malts, big time pine and a touch of citrus. The flavor was a reverse of the aroma. Some sweet caramel is still present, but the piney hops dominate. I also get some doughiness that reminds me of a soft pretzel. Strangely, I liked this a whole lot on first smell and sip. For some reason the more I drank, the less I was enamored by it. Still tasty though. unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Nov 17, 2006 Hazy red. Aroma of pine and cirtus hop goodness. Flavors of hop bitterness, sourdough bread, lots of caramel sweetness. medium bodied hop tenderness. great bite. Just how I like it. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Nov 16, 2006 Aroma is a lackluster slight caramel and grapefruit, a touch of pine. Little going on there. Pour is beautiful, though, a brilliant golden red with a puffy, perfectly lacing head. Flavor is weak, less hoppy and more burnt sugar, a little toast, and a good bit of sweetness. Very very thing palate. AFAIC, Lagunitas only makes one beer. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Nov 14, 2006 12oz bottle. Aroma: Bready malt, caramel, floral, pine, and citrus hops, a light green apple note. A touch of spice as it warms. Appearance: Light copper in color and slightly hazed. Off-white head was full and creamy looking with great retention. Great lacing. Flavor: Piney hops with some orange-y citrus flavors. Malt, just like the aroma, has some light breadiness and caramel. A light sour-apple flavor right before the finish. Some floral hops into the finish, as well. Medium bitterness was nice and well balanced. Palate: Medium-full mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Overall: Another good one from Lagunitas. hop forward, but well balanced. Very drinkable for a 7+ abv beer. 505 (271), Echo Park, California, USA Nov 13, 2006 Aroma is citrusy, some pine. Pours red, nice looking head. Flavor is good, with a decent amount of hops, and a nice malt backbone. Well balanced. I like!
