COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2005 Pours with an orange-red body topped by a medium thick head with some lacing. Wow! The aroma is purely fresh hops. Not much else, but I like it. The flavor is sweet and malty yet bitter and hoppy with slight grapefruit and pine notes. Medium to full bodied and a touch dry.

Cask conditioned at Spuyten Duyvil, New York. Dark ruby colour. Hop juice, candy, thick, sweetish palate. Hops and sweetiness rule this one. Full bodied. Big beer!

Surprised to see Imperial Red in Philadelphia, and after sampling I’m thankful! Spicy green hops, extra malty delivered full flavor to my taste buds. This (re)release from Lagunitas was unique, I think it crosses both American Strong Ale and 2XIPA styles. Imperial Red has a chip on its shoulder.

Pours a clear amber hue with a light white head. One of the greatest aromas I have ever smelled . Fresh hops, citrus, pine, all the best features of a west coast IPA. The flavor, however, doesn’t match the aroma witha light flavor of soap with apple grape juice, and a very light bitterness.

Bomber from the Beer Yard. Pours copper/ruby with substantial off-white head. Aroma of malt, hops, fruit, berries, cabernet. Great aroma. I get malt, hops, berries, citrus, toffee, cabernet, and even some floral spicyness in the taste. Yes, some alcohol is apparent, but the depth of complexity in flavor and aroma is impressive indeed. This one is great.

Mild hoppy aroma. Very pleasant but didn’t last long. Golden/amber color with a short creamy head and plenty of lace. Well balanced malty hoppy flavor with some hop and alcohol bite that mellowed as the beer warmed. Rich body with fine carbonation.

Clear reddish copper colour with fast fading thick off white head. Balanced malt and strong hop nose. leaning towards the malt. Cry bitter hop taste with lingering bitter malt finish.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2005 Pours with a large, creamy head leaving spotty lacing over a dark amber, clear body; very nice, strong, hoppy floral and bready caramel nose with some fruitiness (mango!) thrown in; spicy and floral hop overwhelms you at first, follows with modest (reletive) toasty malt, needs more; lingering, substantial bitterness; full bodied and slick mouthfeel; interesting and worth a try

Bottle. Pours clear, dark reddish-amber (not surprisingly) with a large and fluffy off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is yummy, rich caramelly malts with lots of floral and citrus hops bursting through. Flavor is nice as well, lots of malt sweetness, balanced by massive amounts of grapefruit and citrus rind hops that leave my mouth with a pleasant pucker. Medium body and creamy carbonation. I like this beer very much, I’m surprised by the ratings it’s gotten.

A copper color with a moderate head. The aroma is very pronounced citrus and alcohol. I can smell it 6 inches away from the glass. The flavor is strawberry, grapefruit, orange peel. Very IIPAish to me. Its very hoppy yet malty it acheives excellent balance. I love it!
