The beer is too cold presently. After warming up, it pours a medium sized off white head. Moderate caramel and fairly big hop aroma. Massive bitterness in the finish with mild metallic notes. Decent but I need some sweet malts. swoopjones (1933), Buffalo, New York, USA

I can smell it 6 inches away from the glass. The flavor is strawberry, grapefruit, orange peel. Very IIPAish to me. Its very hoppy yet malty it acheives excellent balance. I love it! marcus (1918), Sacramento, California, USA

Citrusy grapfruit nose. Flavor is more grapefruity hops, rather bitter, with a mildly sweet malt background. Peppery citrus finish. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Let me first comment that I love the commercial description... "malty thorax... hoppy sweet nerve sack..." good stuff. Pours a vermillion amber with a frothy, cream-colored head that leaves some chunky lace on its slow way down. Huge malts vs. big hops in the aroma, I first guessed the style to be a double-IPA. Sweet citrus-caramel-candy rolled in white pepper and Lipton instant iced-tea mix. Flavor is weak compared to the nose, but there is a nice APA quality to it, and the ABV seems fairly well-hidden. Finishes a bit on the "too-sweet" side, but a grapefruity bitterness lingers.
