Aroma is full of hops, citrus, and pine. Taste is even more hoppy with tones of citrus, pine, malt, and floral tones. Well balanaced and smooth. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 26, 2005 Hm, imperial red....Hoppy up front, fades into a nice round bitterness. Body is malty enough, but not enough flavor coming from the malts. Alcohol is extremely well masked, couldn’t taste it at all. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 22, 2005 From a bomber shared by Blake. Hazy brown-read body under a big white head. Clean malty aroma, sort of a darkly roasted caramel / chocolate thing. Grahm cracker. The flavor is primarily bold crackers/caramel with apple skin, orange flesh and a finishing raspberry. Caramel dryness in the finish. A well done malty brew - the flavors are clean, well-defined and balanced but just not terribly compelling. plovmand (1740), Helsinge, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 21, 2008 Bottle. Poured red/orange with a white head. Sugar, hops and herbs in the nose. Full bodied malt character but not heavy. Fresh bitterness cuts through and ends this good beer. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 21, 2005 nice glowing orange color with a quite large white head. Nice citrus in the aroma, doesnt show through as much in the body, but its blended well with a nice malt character. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 2, 2006 Updated: Sep 23, 2007Re-rate 9/23/07: Draught at Charlie’s Ale House, Wheaton, IL. Even better than I remember. Wonderful balance. A near perfect brew. Clean lines and glassware didn’t hurt. As the 1st beer of the evening and with bevy of other options to choose from, I struggled with the decision to go with something else for the 2nd beer (which I did: Spaten Oktoberfest). Underrated. 8/2/06: Bottle. Some malt in the nose and some hop. Sweet, molassesy arona. Reddish amber body with an off-white head. Messy, sloppy lace. Creamy, with some hops. Well balanced. Excellent. Low alcohol for an "imperial" brew, but enough to provide some body. Well done. Ar 7, Ap 4, Fl 8, Pal 5, Ov 17 BuckeyeBoy (1699), Boise, Idaho, USA

Aroma of a grass and hops. A nice mix of sweet malts and hops. A little citrus on this one. hayduke (1690), Eureka, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2005 22 oz bottle. Pours copper-red with a medium tan head that lasts quite a while. Nose is malt with a hint of sugar. Very nice mouth-feel. This beer comes and gets you, and is not to be denied. This is one of the better brews I have never been disappointed in a Lagunitas offering, and this is no exception. Way to go.
