greenhorn1 (385), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 19, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber with a red hue. Nice tight frothy head, high carbonation. Aroma and flavor is a nice balance of bold sweet malt and floral hops. There is also some grapefruit in the background. Short crisp bitter finish. Lagunitas has yet to disappoint me, a must try.
NobleSquirrel (688), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 12, 2008 Draft at Old Oak Tap, Chicago. Pour is a deep crimson/red. Nose is strongly C-hopped with some distinct crystal malt as well. Taste is much the same, lots of caramel, a little citric, pretty refreshing and a touch heavy, though light in mouthfeel. Pretty decent one. BMan1113VR (925), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Oct 12, 2008 Bottle. Shared with my best friend, mrest88 (too bad he isn’t a Hophead!). I love imperial reds, and this one is no different. Pours with a clear red body and a light brown head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is hops (fresh) with lots of caramel and some ripe fruits. Taste starts nicely sweet with caramel and fruitiness and then finishes with a nice and controlled hop bitterness. A bit on the fizzy side of things. m4rest88 (79), Beverly Hills, California, USA Oct 12, 2008 Pours with an amber hue with no head. The beer has very good lacing as well!
Hoppy aroma with lots of caramel.
The flavor is pretty much bitter straight through. Almost too bitter in my opinion!
Syrupy texture, with lively carbonation.
In my opinion this beer was a little to hoppy and bitter for my liking. Recomended for people who like bitter beers though for sure! highibus (271), Vail, Arizona, USA Oct 11, 2008 a nice clear red beer with an off white head. nice spicy hop aroma. flavor is malty and hoppy. great lingering hop finish. jbuzz (518), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 10, 2008 Poured a medium orange color with medium tan head. Nice full body with a good hit of hops. Very easy to drink.
