4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep amber to mahogany in color with a milky head. Smells richly of dark caramel malts with notes of burnt sugar and raisins. Has a barley wine character. Smooth and sweet on the tip of the tongue fading into a luscious, sugary caramel-rich flavor. Ample bitterness and hops round this one out. It’s like a younger, lighter, more limber barley wine. Similar to a Scottish Ale but sharper. Not as complex as an Old Ale. Exactly what I look for in a Red Ale and exactly what I expected of an Imperial. Smooth on the palate not spritzy or syrupy but just right.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber. Pours an amber red with decent off-white head and retention. Nose is pine and citrus, tropical dankness (guava and passion-fruit), some malt hiding in the background. Mouth is medium bodied but then thins out, not as sticky as I’d imagined it would be, relatively dry, loads of pine and citrus, toasty malt backbone, long (albeit slightly muted) bitter finish. Decent and at a very nice price.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I would say this is a no-joke imperial red. It is loaded with caramel and some bittersweet elements. Nicely subdued heavy-hitter. Serving: 22oz bottle.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber (brewed in Chicago) pours a clear reddish amber with moderate, airy off-white head and a bit of lacing. Aroma has pine resin, citrus, and musty malts. Flavor is bitter with toffee sweetness in the middle. Body is medium to full with noticeable carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Worth trying again, especially at this price.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark red into Guinness pint glass. Spicy nose with a huge musty malt profile. It is a bit complex in the nose… I get some fruity and herbal notes. The flavor has that spicy traditional stong hop presence. Sweet with roasted and bread notes. Its a nice blend of complex flavors. Will buy again.

Hotel room rate. Hazy amber beer, good fluffy pale cream coloured head. Light airy palate, semi dry. Caramelly malt, little oxidised. Dried fruits. Tangy finish. Think Kihosk have sold me an old one here, can scarcely believe this is Lagunitas.
