4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer presented a heavy aroma of roasted malt. The appearance was dark but creamy. The taste was all sweetness at the first, quite molasses like, with a burst of roasted malt on the finish, like espresso. The finish was long and mildly bitter. This is a good beer.

This one is big, bold, and aromatic with a very licorice-like quality on the nose and tongue.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black in color with a nice sudsy tan-colored head. Roasty, chocoaltey aroma. Light bodied, but full of flavor; roast-dominant flavor with a complementing chocolate character.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark... Like, black. With a creamy tan head. Surprisingly lively and fresh aroma. The flavour continues the surprises. Despite the dark stout beer the flavours are light and refreshing. Hints of licorice and citrus.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 onz bottle shared with Seb and Alex A: molasses, raisins, light roastiness, red fruits. App: pitch black small beige head. T/p: full body with sweet but short finish. Soft carbonation. Some warmness from the alcohol. O: OK. I prefer my imperial Stout with good level of chocolate/roastiness. Smells like when you enter a brewpub and they are mashing.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
660 ml bottle from Winooski Beverage Warehouse. Aroma: roasted malt, licorice, molasses, coffee, smell that reminds us that when you enter a brewery. App: pitch dark with small brown head. Taste and palate: full body, creamy, smooth, light bitter finish. Overall: disappointed by this beer. The aroma really disappointed me. On the other hand the 75 IBU are well hidden.

Shared bomber. Dark black pour with tan head. Nose is roasty dark malt cacao, molasses, nuts. More dark malt in the flavor, dense palate with well hidden alcohol, smooth finish.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2015 Bomber poured into a pint glass, dark brownish black pour with nice mocha head, which dissipates quickly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma brought notes of dark cocoa, roast, coffee, slight spice. Taste is a mix of dark chocolate, roast, coffee, raisin, slight caramel, finishing sweet, slightly roasted. Reasonably priced for an Impy!

[2/14/15] Draught at Lagunitas in Petaluma. Black with a tan head. Roasty and coffee-ish aroma. Bittersweet flavor with roast, coffee and some dark chocolate. Full-bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Good stuff.
