4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22.oz Bomber to English Pint. Sorry no snifter available. Solid Stout color almost impenetrable mahogany with a lovely dark khaki head. A respectable quality good tavern pour like head with good small bubbles. As the head dissipates the lacing is present but not super sticky. Aromas are light but satisfying. Roasted coffee and malt with mild chocolate notes. The taste and mouthfeel are where this brew shines. The bitterness/ sweet balance is spot on. A medium roast coffee taste with a bit of slate and a floral hop undertone and the bakers chocolate contribution.Glad I tried this one. Not spectacular but well made and quite tasty. Would buy again and the price is terrific. The bomber would make a perfect split with your friend or date for an after dinner beer.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap, poured into a snifter. Notes of dark chocolate, roasted grain, and licorice come through with a light woody and cherry note late. It pours an opaque black-brown with a tan head, retaining a medium fuzzy ring with a wispy surface and leaves a clean glass. The taste is a medium high sweet with a medium bitter. The full bodied, thick textured beer has a light creamy head. Flavors of dark chocolate and caramel are dominant with a bit of nuttiness and some grains. Clean finish with very little aftertaste.

Pitch black pour... Not much head... Aroma of licorice, dark roasted malts, coffee, hint of booze... Flavor of licorice , dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee bitterness on palate... Alcohol comes through on finish... Decent, nothing exciting

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice, dark and rich. Tick creamy beige head with some clumpy lacing. Aroma is chocolate and roast grains. Taste leans more toward the chocolate side of the spectrum, with some coffee/roast grain bitterness at the tail end. No sign of the alcohol....

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Not the best RIS I’ve had, but not bad either. Initial pour is opaque black, tannish craggy head that dissipates and leaves some good lacing. Initial aroma is coffee and "over roasted" malts. First taste is of char, almost sweet smoky taste, but after the mouthfeel is a bit too sticky. Mid-Aftertaste is boozy, the 9.9 abv comes through a little too strong for me, not very warming, just boozy. As I said, not the best RIS out there, but by far not the worst either.

Poured from bottle into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a nearly pitch black color with a two finger tannish colored head. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time to leave a good level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big of caramel and dark chocolate mixed with a rather nice dark roasted aroma. The darker aromas are a mix of roasted malt and coffee with them all being joined by a bit of a warming boozy smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter flavor of caramel and chocolate with a nice hit of roasted malt flavor and a moderate presence of coffee mixed with some flavors of char. As the flavor advances it gains sweetness with some darker fruit flavors entering the taste and a light cream like flavor giving a more mocha latte like flavor when mixed with the roasted flavors. A lighter oat flavor comes to the tongue along this time enhancing the creaminess. Toward the end a lighter boozy taste can be detected on the tongue leaving a rather roasted and lightly warming and sweeter taste to linger in the mouth.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is rather low. The creamier body and the lower carbonation enhance and compliment well the roasted flavors of the brew rather nicely and create a nice mouth coating feel.
Overall – The 9.9% abv is actually hidden very well which when mixed with the roasted malt, low bitterness, and the stronger fruit/caramel presence, make for a surprisingly drinkable and enjoyable sweeter imperial overall.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From the 650 ml. bottle. It pours just about black with brown hues glistening in the glass. Big tan head that lasts. Roasted dark malts, sweetness, musk, yeast, and a mild to moderate bitter nose. Medium to a bit better body with a smooth texture. The flavor has this sort of aged malt start but then erupts into a bigger bitterness than I anticipated. Alcohol well integrated.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
22 oz bottle from Whole Food Market in Hillsboro, OR. Initial nose is boozy and sweet. Mouthfeel is smooth and syrupy, and the mild carbonation paired with the bitterness from the hops adds a pleasant buzz on my tongue. Has notes of coffee and licorice. Taste is very sweet, but the heavy bitterness from the hops and roasty grains adds a great balance. Finishes slightly sour, but otherwise this is a perfect beer for my taste!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma was a bit woodsy and boozey, but not overly boozey. This beer looked great with the rich, dark color. First sip was sweet and still carried that woodsy taste. As the beer warmed up and the flavors came alive...not quite a coffee or chocolate but more like a toasty caramel or butterscotch. Great beer!
