j_b (713), Rochester, New York, USA Apr 19, 2008 Dark colored, but not black, with reddish highlights and a quickly diminishing head with little lacing. Flavor is intense coffee, toasted grain, and not much else. Palate is nice, but not as intense as some IS’s, but still very good. Sweet, sticky, boozy, some watery notes, carbonated, nutty, hoppy with coffee beans. Not bad.
ucusty (760), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jul 6, 2008 Bottle from case and keg in Boca. Dark brown porn fizzy brown head with zero lace. Malty aroma. Thin bodied mouth-feel with chocolate, malts, and some hops. This RIS is definately missing somethhing FLnative80 (168), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 1, 2008 Bottle. 22 fl. oz. Very dark brown with tan head. Aromas of chocolate and licorice. Medium body, but thin for the style. Flavor is similar to the aroma, but with a strange tartness. Although its high ABV is well hidden, this beer lacks. Dorwart (1585), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Jun 28, 2008 Thin light brown head of fine bubbles. Sweet malty aroma with a bit of raisins and caramel. Very little of the roasty or chocolaty aroma that you would expect. Color is a very dark brown. Medium bodied with more sweet malts, caramel, a bit of smoke, more raisins and a hint of anise. Lacking in flavor and mouthfeel. Decent bitterness late swallow. Finishes sickly sweet with a bit of lingering bitterness. Not a very good imperial stout. DTM (307), Winters, California, USA Jun 26, 2008 Bottle aquired from Timfoolery. Poured a dark brown with a tan head. Smelled of roasted matls and coffee. Chocolate and coffee being the most prevalent flavors. A bit thin bodied for an Imperial Stout, but still a good brew. jjuf1853 (171), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jun 18, 2008 Bottle pours a dark brown, almost black color with a thin tan head. Aroma and flavor of mostly raisins, some roasted malts, licorice, and coffee. A slight bitter aftertaste with lingering coffee and raisin flavor. Interesting and different, but I wouldn’t rush back to this one.
