COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Having downed his forth Imperial Stout of the day, the wild eyed charlatan from Voldvostogniaky belched and hollered for the Czarina to enter his chamber and bend herself to his will. The economy was a wreck and revolt was just around the corner. Nicky the Czar dude was off playing soldier like any pale nobleman with a hemorrhagic skin condition would. Such were the final days of the old empire. Reactionary, decadent, sputnik, stroganoff, weird, and drunk. But even as the proletariat countryside labored under inhuman conditions and a threat of being sent to a futile war in the east, they wisely took the time to slam back an Imperial Stout or two. After all, life can be a real "suka", as they say in the old country. Big, black, bourgeois, bolshoy, belligerent, buxom, and scary - this is our version of the chaotic end of an era in a bottle.

Bomber pours a very dark brown with lasting tan head and good lacing. Nose is full of roasted malts and hops. Aroma is not as hoppy as I first thought it would be, but has dark chocolate, toast, molasses, and coffee. Taste is slightly salty at first, then sweet, and finally a little drier and hotter in the finish. Alcohol is fairly well hidden. Body is medium plus. without very much carbonation. Overall, this is a very good, somewhat unusual Imperial stout, which I think has 80% of the delights of the best ones at less than half of their price.

On tap at the brewery. Pour is deep brown, almost black with a big tan head and great lacing. Big coffee, cocoa, light vanilla, somewhat oaky, roasty, earthy, and grassy aroma. Taste is cocoa, espresso, earthy coffee, sweet maple, oak, and a touch of vanilla. Medium body with soft carbonation. Really like a foreign stout to me.

Pours deep brown with a big foamy beige head that reduces quickly to a thin layer. Looks awesome! Smells of chocolate and dark fruit. Tastes of the same plus coffee and black licorice. Overall pretty tasty, but the firkin keg tapped in Madison if this same beer last week blew it out of the water.

This was the Wilco Tango Foxtrot limited batch. Lots of good malt flavor plus a welcome and unexpected hoppiness. Medium brown color and an aroma that emphasizes the malt flavor. Certainly recommend.

22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours thin dark brown with a thin creamy mocha head. Aroma is cocoa and a hint of bourbon. Taste is big roasty charred chocolate oaky malt with a nicely balanced bitter finish. Notes of vanilla, Body is quite thin for an imperial stout. ABV is impressive as this tastes nowhere near 9.9% abv.

Pours ruby with a slightly offwhite head that lasts the whole pour. Smells sweet, cedary and spicey. First feel in the mouth is very thick with coffee, chocolate and toffee. The sweet notes are quickly balanced out by a smooth, spicey bitterness that is followed by a warming from the alcohol. A very balanced big brown, the generous hops keep it balanced and easily drinkable at 7.85%.
