3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber pours a very dark brown with lasting tan head and good lacing. Nose is full of roasted malts and hops. Aroma is not as hoppy as I first thought it would be, but has dark chocolate, toast, molasses, and coffee. Taste is slightly salty at first, then sweet, and finally a little drier and hotter in the finish. Alcohol is fairly well hidden. Body is medium plus. without very much carbonation. Overall, this is a very good, somewhat unusual Imperial stout, which I think has 80% of the delights of the best ones at less than half of their price.

Bottle. Near pitch black in color with a steady tan head. Fresh espresso, some fluffy chocolate mousse and bit of slightly spiced coffee liqour in aroma. velvety smooth. Nice. Somewhat bitter chocolatey flavored coffee in taste. Bit of burnt malts in the end.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Beer #11 of 13 in blind tasting.
A lighter imperial stout but definitely an impy. A little alcohol and slightly ashy. Low hop and low acidity.
For the aggregate, 3rd best but in the same category as the top 3.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (22oz $4) Black with one finger tan head that disappears pretty quickly. Aroma roasted malts and some coffee. Pretty bitter finish without the nice chocholate flavors I was hoping for. OK but will seek other imperial stouts.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Imperial stout blind tasting, sample #11 of 13. Great pour. Roasty, ashy, dense creamy khaki head. Roasty like a hot dog -- yeah, I’m of classy descriptions dudes. Sweet, creamy. Metallic. On the sweet side, but still nice balance. Good roast, but a little too sweet for my taste [still in the top half of beers on the night].

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
1pint 6 fluid ounce bottle. Pours a thick pitch black with a one finger tan head. Aromas of molasses, black coffee, dark rum, light ash, brown sugar, and a light fruity note. Not as full bodied as I would expect an imperial stout, but still on the sweeter side with molasses, raisin, dark rum, a light brandy note, and mineral hopping that leads into light earthy notes, molasses, mineral notes, and dark coffee and a much drier finish than one would expect. I’m kind of surprised by the low ratings. I agree, it doesn’t really fit the definition of an "imperial stout". It comes across as more of an "imperial porter", and an excellent one at that. The alcohol is hidden well, and there is a lot going on with the flavours with no one taste really dominating. At $4.49 a bottle, this guy is a bargain and a half!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark walnut brown, large tan head. Earthy clay aroma and faint chocolate. Sweet palate, earthy, some chocoalte and caramel malt. Dominant ethyl alcohol note in the finish. Thin bodied for the style. Poorly integrated. Not what i expected, not that good

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: Slick, dark brown pour, not quite dark enough to truly be called "black". Not much of a head. Meager trace of khaki foam that doesn’t last very long. Aroma of dry cacao dust, anise, molasses, raisins, mild espresso, burnt caramel, & some faint notes of cardboard. Heavier dark fruit in the flavor; lots of raisin, prune, & dates. A bit of anise, molasses, & sweeter dark malts showing up, too. Light ashy notes with some very faint burnt coffee in the finish. Alcohol asserts itself in the aftertaste; warming, slightly pungent. Mouth feel could be a bit thicker, it’s fairly thin for a 10% ABV imperial stout. I have found that Lagunitas needs to stick to hoppy beers.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a dark black. Light brown head. Heavy sweet chocolate, coffee and slight Vanilla. Great flavor of chocolate. vanilla, roasted malts. Very malt forward. Creamy mouth feel. Medium low carbonation. Nice stout over all. Love the aroma and the mouthfeel. The alcohol is well hidden. Not too heavy on the coffee side which is nice for me.
