3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear, amber body with a fluffy off-white head. Moderately hoppy aroma of pine, grapefruit, caramel, grains, and a touch of residual sweetness. The body is pretty damn good for an IPA. Not too thick, but not lacking in any qualities either. The flavor is good and certainly tasty. The malt is sweet and robust, with a bitter, piney flavor that makes things interesting. I could drink this with some regularity, methinks.

Beautifully crafted hop nose is balanced nicely with undertones of caramel malts. Fizzy carbonation leads to surprisingly little bitterness and a somewhat watery start. The caramel malts I was looking foward too are rather diminished, even as the IPA warms. The hops are much more pronounced in the finish though, leaving a lasting bitter impression. A good start, but needs more "oomph" for the lack of a better descriptor.

Bottle from Pailhead. Lightly hazy and amber colored. Decent off-white head leaves good lacing. Aroma is piney, a touch earthy. Medium to light bodied. Caramel malt flavor balanced by piney hop flavor. Nothing exceptional.

Reminds me of a watered-down Bells Two Hearted Ale. Somewhat of a floral aroma, but could use more. Lots of complex hop flavor that runs from biting to dry to floral. Well-balanced malts. Iíd never heard of this beer until I saw a sixer on sale at Safeway. Would buy again.

Not too bitter for an IPA. It tastes like it has been blended nicely with the malt. The aroma isnít overpowering, but smells like pine needles with a little lemon mixed in. Not the smoothest beers, but personally I favor this to Stone IPA which has a higher rating.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz capped bottle: clear apricot bronze with a thin film of a head that leaves thick, starched white lacing all around the glass. Fresh, grapefruity and piney aroma that isnít as over powering as I may have thought, and offers some fresh strawberry and apple esters as well. Sticky, slightly sour and moderate hop bitterness throughout the palate. Grainy mouth feel. Caramel flavours are an after thought and are missing the normal sweetness. Not one of my favourite IPAs, but pretty decent anyway.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2006 On tap at the Maple Leaf Grill in Seattle.
Pours a clear but saturated golden with an adequate head.
Palate is somewhat unsatisfying; aroma is fruity, as is the taste; fruit notes overwhelm the bitterness and the malts are are very scantly represented. This one is not as full as many of the better IPA competitors, though certainly pleasent enough to drink.

Pours a nice golden color with a quickly disappearing head. Nice citrusy smell, classic IPA-ish. Taste is smooth with just a touch of hop bitter. Itís a decent IPA thatís worth a try. Not my favorite IPA, but not bad either.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very fruity aroma, almost candy-like. Hops are very up-front. Pours a lovely golden color, hints of red throughout. Small head. Flavor is also very fruit heavy, with hops to back it up. Very little malt presence, making it a bit unbalanced. This is a bit harsh on the mouth, not like Stone Ruination, but the lack of balance makes it a little rough. Still, a quality IPA. USA v. Honduras! Letís go BLUE!!!

Courtesy of Pailhead. Pours light copper with film for head. Aroma is very muted floral/citrus hops. Flavor, also muted, is mostly caramel with a little hop presence in finish. Decent, but lacks in aroma and flavor.
