COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you’re on.

Pours a nice red amber with a one finger head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is mild citrus and floral hops. Taste is bitter floral hops with little of the citrus in the nose. Not too oily which helps mouthfeel. Good typical IPA, but nothing spectacular. Like Duster said... Its very drinkable, so this one will be purchased again.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2007 This right here is an above average IPA. Lagunitas knows what they’re doing. They give you what you expect and then some...

Bottle poured a clear copper with a small diminishing amber head. Aromas of carmel, pine, light earthiness and a hint of grapefruit. Palate was medium dodied and slightly dry. Flavors of pine, carmel, earthiness and a hint of citrus with a lingering bitter finish.

My first reaction was that this IPA seems clean and not unbalanced as it seems to capture the qualities I desire in an IPA: a grapefruit-pine presence with hoppy bitterness. What makes this one different is a relatively dry finish which seems to accentuate the grapefruit tones and a sense that this one is slightly unbalanced with a sense of cloves. For a second I felt like I was writing the same IPA-style review but this slight unbalance for an otherwise clean beer seems to set it apart. Maybe its a bit overloaded?

12oz. bottle - pours a deep orange shade with a small white head that leaves sticky lacing in the glass. Lots of little floaters in the glass. Smells great - full of fresh citrusy and piney hops (43 of them?!) that blend together perfectly against a solid malt (65 of them?!) background. Flavour is equally excellent - lots of chewy, fruity hops balanced very well with the malt. Bitterness comes through at the end with more of the earthier hop notes coming forward. Aftertaste however, is citrusy (grapefruit) again. Mouthfeel is sticky and creamy. This is an excellent, very drinkable IPA. Were it available in these parts I’d pick this up all the time as a perfect session beer.

Strong yeast aroma with mild floral hop aroma. Clear orange color with small white head, good lacing. Fizzy with a small amount of sediment. Starts off melllow finishing with a moderate hop bitterness. Good carbonation.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2007 Beatuiful tangerine-red color and clear. Minimal head. Aroma of straw-colored, dry grass. Flour taste I don’t really dig but with nice bitterness. [tasted next to a Tyranena Stickin It To The Man] Not really a good comparison. The Lagunitas is really nice but pretty one-dimensional next to the Tyranena. I like them both, guess it depends on what you’re looking for.

Clear amber color, off-white head, rather sweet with a punch of floral, bittering hops at the end. Pretty good IPA - but, it doesn’t even come close to the good ones.

Hoppy flowery scent that you can about taste but no lingering bitter flavors. An easy to find favorite and a real pleasure on tap.
