This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you’re on.

Bottle. Pours a golden copper with nice white head. Decent grapefruity hop aroma with malts present, tho it didn’t seem as assertive as I would have liked. Medium to light bodied mouthfeel, and a hoppy flavor and medium bitter bite. Finishes fairly crisp. Good drinkable IPA.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2006 A particularly well-done IPA that lives up to this IPA Hound’s standards. Satisfies more than any IPA I’ve had besides Stone’s. Heavy pine aroma. Great head retention. Flavor very nicely parallels the aroma. Rich, crisp, comes off very fresh. Missing a certain balance I can’t quite place that is met by the Stone IPA, my personal standard. Still, it’s some top-notch stuff, well above the 4/5 IPA mainstream.

Bottle. Slightly murky light copper color with good head and lacing. Good earthy and citrus hop aroma. Earth and citrus with a little pine and some piny notes. There is a nice lingering bitterness. Smooth and refreshing. Nice beer.

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2005 Strong hop aroma with mild citrus notes. pours honey orange. My bottle was swamped with yeast residue. Appropriate mouthfeel for the style. Well managed hops at 45.6 IBU, but I think my bottle was too old cause it just tasted unfresh.

Bottle. Dark charneol colour. Mandarin, hoppy nose. Big body. Thorough hop dryness. Very well balanced. Fresh hops cover the palate.

12oz. Hazy golden with an orange tinge. Thick white head. Fair amount of hops in the aroma, citrus, orange, some bread aromas. Body is medium and crisp. Bitterness in back of throat. Medium hop flavor. Well balanced.

Pretty good IPA. Good Citrus and Graitfruit hops however the beer is one dimensional throughout.

pours an orange copper color with a fairly lasting head. Not nearly as aggressive a hop character as the bottle proclaims. Hop flavor is slightly piney crisp. Mildly bitter.

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2006 Fairly mild and non-aggressive of an IPA, this ale pours an orange-copper body with a sudsy, well retained head. The aroma is hops, predominantly pine with some grassiness and a smattering of orange. It’s well balanced, the malt half of the equation being mild and caramelly. Mildly bitter finish. More of a session APA than an IPA, really.
