COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you’re on.

Bottle. Aroma of caramel, spicy hops. Hazy, burnt orange with suspended particulate matter. Thin white head with some lacing. Fruity and full of hop flavor with body to match. Good combination of citrus and resins. Just enough rough bitterness to remind you to think about what you are drinking. A bit of tin can in the finish. Maybe some oxidation. A dependably good IPA though it is consistantly inconsistant.

A very excellent IPA. I have consummed vast quantities of it while in the SF Bay Area and in San Diego. I used to think this was the best IPA I has tasted until I ran into Stone IPA.

Orange/copper coloured body with a thin white head. Aroma of pacific northwest hops, caster sugar, some malt & some grapefruit. Flat hop flavour showing no bitterness at all. Aftertaste clean with no wheat or hop character. A few months old-but kept in a fridge. This one should hold up! Overall, try a different IPA from the west than this one! I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 09-October-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia with my good friend Jon[R888710].

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2009 The head was creamy with excellent lacing. The head did dissapate over time. There were particles floating and suspended in the beverage. For some beer drinkers that would be a negative. The particles did settle on the bottom. Flavors were of grapefruit hops and citrus. The Overall taste was superb. I am big fan of IPA’s. I have two more IPA’s to compare this on to. I enjoyed another on 11/20. It is getting difficult to find IPAs that I have not had. Another was consumed in 2009 purchased at Whole Foods. It was good but not 3.5 I will try another.

Bottled. Amber color with a small white head. Nice hop aroma with a lot of citrus. Somewhat bitter hop flavor that is balanced fairly well with the malt. Dry finish.

Sampled on tap. I found this to be mediocre for a west coast IPA. Although I do like other offerings from Lagunitas. Dark amber in color, thin head and no lacing. Smell is very malty with only a hint of hops here. Flavor is fairly blanaced with a moderate bitterness and spicy hop note. Light to medium bodied. I’ll pass on this one in the future, there are so many other better options for the style.

Bottle: Good west coast IPA. Lots of bitter citrus and grapefruit hops in the aroma. Cascade hops dominate the taste, nice and citrus/grapefruity yet crisp taste. The caramel malt provides a consistent base to the high levels of hops. Not amazing, but a very solid example of this style.

I had this at the Great Arizona Beer Festival in Phoenix. Very nicely hopped and likely one of the better beers I had that day.
