This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you’re on.

Clear, sparkling orange color with a small, fizzy-frothy, off-white head; a small layer sticks around an lacing is decent. Nose is nice with notes of tangerine, grass, and biscuit with hints at cinnamon. Flavor is simple; grass, tangerine, and light pine with pie crust malt tones backing. Palate is supportive to this IPA being, lively, medium, and somewhat viscous. Finishes with the more-than-moderate bitterness coming out fully, with lingering tangerine and a some herbal notes. Not a bad IPA; straight forward with nice flavors and balance. Lacks any "wow" qualities and somewhat simple without the extreme bitterness of certain IPA’s, but solid in every facet.

12 oz bottle. Very minimal head. Dusky, dull amber-orange. Faintly sweet citrus and floral aroma. Mild fruity-sweet taste, bitter and a bit dry on the back end. Decent but neither outstanding or memorable.

POurs a hazy orange with a small white head. Smells of some floral citrus and hops. Not a huge hop presence, but its there. Some grapefruit too. The taste is semi-mild, kind of a sweet hoppiness to it. Some cinnamon and other spices show up. Some grapefruit citrus arrives from the hops. Nicely balanced and fairly easy to drink. Nice job on this beer. Kind of a fruitier IPA.

The Dan Journal #18. Tasted 5/30/07. 22oz bomber. Hazy with a dark golden amber hue. Minimal head. Toasty caramel malt aromas. Pine and maple aromas. Toasty bready malts. Dry and bitter. Nice piney hop profile. Good!

12 oz bottle. Is this bottle conditioned? I sure hope so because mine poured a clear orangey/amber color with a TON of floaties that resembled sour milk poured into hot tea, and a nice size frothy white head. Well I darnk it anyway despite the floaties, please let it have been yeast. Aroma started off with a nice big whiff of citrus hops and then turned over to sweet caramel malt with the hops taking the back seat. Flavor was dominated by sweet malt with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Nothing special here, nice but not that memorable.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2007 On tap at the Bocktown. Looks like the typical ubiquitous pale yellow American lager. Thin white head made of smaller creamy bubbles. Just a small amount of floral hop aroma. Again, just barely. Has an earthy hint to the taste and then the hops hit pretty hard. Decent carbonation. Lets chew on some grapefruit rinds. Another sip causes the bitterness to build but it is not tremendously offensive. Finish is long lasting medicinal bitterness on the back of your throat, typical IPA finish. Somebody give me a Old Heathen to wash this down with. I have yet to adjust to the IPA style.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2008 Re-Rate - out of fairness this bottle is much fresher than the last I tasted. Orange/amber color - little hazy. Aroma - lots of grapefruit, floral and malty. The lots of hops are balanced with malt. Decent palate. Good overall IPA.

Pours nice amber, aroma of grapefruits, light malts and hops, linge of grassey pines. Formed medium foamy head. My mouth is watering. Initial impression is heaven. Simply a wonderful IPA beer. Easily sessionable. Wish I had a kegger of it.
