This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet youíre on.

Poured copper with a small fluffy off white head. Aroma of hops and citrus. There wasnít as much hop character as in the aroma. Wasnít bad. Good balance of hops and malt. Some citrus hints.

Pours a honey-golden/amber, moderately effervescent, under a thick, off-white head which holds long and spackle my glass with lace. Floral, piney hops coat the nose along with a suggestion of lemongrass above just a hint of dishwater. A bit bland and mineralish at first, but hops crawl out as it warms (not to the point where I can distinguish one from another of the "43 different" mentioned above, but overall piney, grapefruity and grassy with a touch of pepper to linger.) Not overdone and fairly sessionable. And I am not one to session IPAs.

Not bad, but not great. Iíd say it is average. Slight spiciness over a floral taste. Medium head with an amber color

22 oz from Argonaut in Denver. Pour is a golden - ruby with an off white head. Quite a bit of soft carbonation. Aroma of some pine and resin hops. Taste is nice, good bitterness throughout, and a distinctive citrus sour thing going on in the finish. Nice IPA.

Poured a hazy gold with little head. malts and oak dominate the nose. Taste is similar with a bit of flowery hops. A bit too sweet. Finishes a bit syrupy. This bottle is obviously over the hill for the hops to stand out.

Deep gold color, small barely off white head dissolves quickly. Smells like crystal malts, some stone fruit, slightly sweet, fruity, hop bitterness is somewhat sharp and lasts for a moment after swallowing. A liitle citrus pith on the finish.

I donít understand the low ratings for this beer. It is my favorite beer period. Assertive hops taste, but still balanced withthe malt. The low ratings may be the result of what seemed to be bad bottles several years ago. I just wish it was available in the part of SoCal where I live.

Draught. Medium amber pour with a nice, creamy white head. You could mistake this for a cask or nitro beer if you didnít know better just by looking at the head. Excellent retention and some lacing. Nose is all hops, big grapefruit hops, with a ton of pine there as well. Donít really get much malt backing on the nose. You donít get much in the taste either, except for a faint sweetness. This is a pretty straightforward IPA, tons of citrus and pine. If you like that, this is your beer. Medium bodied, very slick and resinous mouthfeel. Finish is super long, lingering pine, grapefruit and grass. Excellent.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2007 This beer pours nicely out of the bottle a golden straw color. IT has a good amount of bubbles in it. The aroma is good, and smells like the hop flower. Its got that great IPA bitter taste and finishes smooth, literally.

If you are a hop guy like me, this is an awesome beer. I like it a lot more than the dogtown pale. The initial taste is sweet and the bang of hops is nearly instant and will stick to your mouth for a long time. The head on the beer is decent and stays, although a little thin, throughout. I need to try this one back to back with Sierra Nevada and see which one I like better, I think I like this better. I have to say, to be fair, that iím only an hour from the brewery so Iím sure Iím getting a fresh batch everytime. Iím waiting for a beer that tastes this good to compete with the MBC. The labels these guys make are classic. One of the best beers around and on tap all over the bay area. LOVE
