3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
THIRD TRIAL: This is a pretty good IPA overall. I enjoy a lot of Lagunitas beers, and this fits right in there with most of their others. It pours a hazy orange with a fair amount of sediment floating in it. The head doesnít stick around too long, but it leaves a nice bit of lacing on the glass. The aroma is floral and very clean citrus hop. The flavor is similar, with a bit of sweet maltiness in the finish. For some reason, most of the Lagunitas beers Iíve had taste "clean". Thatís the best way I can put it... Not astringent, just very clean (almost like a cleaning product smells). The aftertaste leaves a bit of hop bitterness on your tongue, but not as much as I would have liked. Overall, this is a good IPA, not too special, but not average either.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Large offwhite head, excellent retention. Lacing is coating and webby. Clear copper color. Nose is a bit grassy, piney and a hint citrusy. Medium bodied, crisp on the palate. Dry maltiness, biscuity with inky, piney hop flavors balancing the malts out. Medium acidity and a touch resiny. Finish is dry, a touch fruity with a clean hop bite. An easy drinkin IPA. Solid. Props to jake65 for the bomber!

BOTTLE SAYS I BEST. WONDERFUL MALTY SWEETNESS, GENUINE, AND PACKED FULL OF FLAVOR. GREAT MOUTHFEEL NOT THICK OR THIN. A MASSIVE HOP ASSAULT. ALL THE SPOILS OF A WONDERFUL BEER WAR. TREAT YOURSELF.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz pour. Big white fluffy head, nice golden to orange color but...tons of sediment/hops floaters, even with a carefull pour. Not real attractive. As the beer judge would say, a moonscape on the bottom equals carelessness at the top. The 2.9 is from the 1 for "Appearance."

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slightly darker amber with a moderately large head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is PNW hops, I got Amarillo here mostly, probably Cascade, and also the usual caramel. Flavor brings this and focuses heavily on bitterness instead of hop flavor, which I didnít like. The aroma was about a 7.5/10 and the flavor was a 6.5/10 so I gave them each 7s. An enjoyable IPA, but there was nothing special here.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beer poured amber with an creamy white head. There were big hop aromas on the pour. I could smell citrus, spices and orange. The taste is big hops with a hint of malt. Pretty good balance for an IPA.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very good IPA because of its hop balance. Amber with off-whtie head. Large hop aroma of grapefruit, orange and flowers. Flavor is mostly bitter with a small sweet malt backbone ó just enough to offset the bitterness. The bitterness carries through to the long finish. Medium body. Smmoth texture. Somewhat astringent.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
By far Lagunitas most popular brew. Its very nice, pours smooth and dark brown with a nice thick head. Mouthfeel is excellent and prepares you for great flavoring based on good bitters and spices. Highly recommended.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 ounce bottle. This is not bad, but there is also nothing to recommend it. On the pour it looks like a glass of apple juice. It even smells somewhat like it. The aroma is a combination of orange, apple, and grain. It is less flavorful than many India Pale Aleís. The taste tends more toward orange than grapefruit, with a slight hint of apple and lightly roasted grains. The disturbing part of the experience was the small bits of sediment floating everywhere. I canít say I have seen that in an IPA, to date. Most of the bits didnít settle, either.
This accompanied the wifeís dinner omelets. It would have been a good match if the beer was only slightly better.
