This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you’re on.

On tap. Pours blonde with white head. Lots of grapefruit, passion fruit, lemon zest. In the mouth is again very fruity, bit pine also. Nice smooth bitterness. Very fresh hop finish. Great beer

Pours a brilliant copper color. Huge carbonation bubbles. About one finger thick off white head head that hangs around. Some decent lacing.

Aroma is hoppy, more than usual. Also all sorts of citrus like grapefruit and maybe lemon zest.

Taste was a shot to the throat with hops bitterness. I was surprised by it, but after the initial shock...It’s quite sweet. Hoppy yes, but not overwhelming. The malts balance the hops. But maybe only slightly hop heavy. I also taste peaches, maybe. Some citrus.

Mouthfeel is medium-light. It’s very smooth, almost silky. It’s dry, but not super dry.

Overall, this is really different for an IPA, but it works. I love the simplicity of the label, and the small print stuff on the label is funny. But absolutely you should try this one. I almost passed it up, but I’m glad I didn’t.

Als je het uitschenkt komt er een heel rijk aroma boven. De kleur is mooi goudgeel. De smaak echter zoals de gemiddelde IPA. Dus niet echt mijn ding

Bottle at The Water House (JDW), Durham, £2.49/335ml. Pours mid-amber with a foamy, off-white head and slight visible carbonation. Peach and citrus in a powerful aroma that blasts through the airways like a menthol stick. The flavour opens with a cereal graininess before a big, thick fruit hit. There’s a pleasant, creamy mouthfeel and a short dryness to the finish - a little more would be welcome - but on the whole its a very well balanced beer and worryingly drinkable at 6.2%.
