This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you’re on.

Bottle. A- Caramel, pine, citrus, rubbing alcohol. A- Orange color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Carmel, floral, pine, citrus, bitter, corn. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. O- Figured this would be super aggressive but it was actually quite malty and caramelly. Not overly exciting.

Bottle from Waitrose. Pours light golden amber with velvety white head. Aroma is quite unusual - pleasantly grassy with oak, citrus and vanilla. Taste strong in hops with oak, dusty malts, molasses, pineapple and resin.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2015 One of those classic West Coast IPAs, tasted many years ago but apparently I cannot find my rating anymore, so I purchased a (relatively) fresh bottle. Clear, warm orange blonde colour with peachy hue under a medium thick, egg-white, moussy head slowly dissolving but retaining well on the edges. Appealing aroma of strong roasted onion (Simcoe?), fairly strong pine resin, yellow grapefruit peel, chicken spices, freshly toasted bread, more subtle accents of lime zest, cedar needles, mandarin, mango, cigarette tobacco, paprika, green olive, tropical flowers, mineral water. Clean, crisp onset of restrained fruit sweetishness (hints of mango, orange and redcurrant) with salty and umami accents, soft carbo, very supple, lean, bit oily body carrying an increasing amount of hops which come to maturity in the finish, drying, peppery, aromatic but softly yet deeply bittering as well, onion-, pine- and grapefruit-like retronasally, allowing just a narrow trace of malt ’juiciness’ to peep through, minerally effect in the back as well. This beer introduced me to American-style IPA years ago and did that job very well. Still enjoyed it a lot.

on tap at Brothers Beer Bistro (Ottawa, ON). Limpid amber body with an average, white foamy head. Good hoppy aroma with malty, woody, and citrusy hints. Its sharp, robust hoppy taste carries woody, citrusy, and some brown sugar notes. Ends with a long, strong bitter finish. Good stuff.

Bottle, from Waitrose. Gold, thin but lasting white head and good condition. Sweet citrus orange, yeast and solid hop resin fight for attention in the nose, full and citrusy in the mouth with a pleasant sweet yeastiness, some melon and bubble gum and a good hop resin bitterness, finish is quite sweet and alcoholic with a lingering chalky hop and yeast bitterness.

Draught at Beer Market Dublin. Clear gold and a frothy white head. Huge grapefruit aroma. Fresh grapefruit up front with a nice bitter finish that isn’t too dry.

Cuerpo medio con 6.2 vol fácil de beber y con algo de espuma y cierta densidad. Buen toque de lupulos frescos y herbaceos con ligeros tonos cítricos y maltosos algo dulces. Bastante buena para repetir sin duda.

0,355 l pullo @ m/s Amorella. Kirkas kullankeltainen. Tuoksussa hedelmäistä humalaa, mallasta. Haistaessa saattaa olla liian kylmä, koska tuoksussa löytyy metallia. Maussa raikasta havuista humalaa, mallasta.

Draught, small long lasting, slightly dense creamy bubbly head, clear light copper to deep rusty orange color, aroma of citrus and pine, flavor of herbs, shrubs and grapefruit with an underluying malty backbone, strong mellow shrubby grapefruit bitterness, light piney mellow aftertaste, Classic satisfying IPA.
