This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you’re on.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a beautiful and clear copper color. There’s two fingers worth of off-white colored head, with okay retention and a soft texture. This head leaves behind nice lacing on the glass. S: This starts off pretty malty. Once it warms up slightly, it develops a character of piny, grapefruity hops. The Lagunitas house character is pretty unmistakable - and as always, enjoyable. Their other beers show it off better, though. T: The hop profile here is pretty mild: there’s only a slight flavor of grapefruit and pine. What there is, especially post-swallow, is a decent amount of bitterness. Normally, I’m not a fan of this approach to IPAs, but there’s just enough sweetness to balance out the finish. Since there isn’t much malt or hop flavor here, it’s mainly reliant on the house character of Lagunitas to provide the flavor - and while it doesn’t do a great job, it does just enough to make it solidly tasty. M: While it’s a touch sweet, it has that clean, crisp feel I enjoy in IPAs. The dryness does a good job of counteracting it’s slightly full body. Carbonation isn’t much of a factor either way. O: Solid, but not my favorite Lagunitas offering. Still, its great drinkability can’t be overlooked. It reeks of an old-school IPA with its prominent sweetness and generic hop bitterness - however, it’s good enough where I’d have no trouble putting it down again.

Crystal clear deep golden color. Aroma tropical flowers, pine, resin. Classic west coast IPA. On top of a slight cracker bread crust. Med mouth feel. Bright C hops orange peel, dank resinous tropical grapefruit overtop a thin sweet malt base. Finishes dry with slight furry tongue.

Goûtée un soir au coin du feu dans Yosemite. Bref, une bonne manière de la déguster. Couleur ambrée, belle mousse. Une IPA assez bien équilibrée, pas trop houblonnée et assez rafraîchissante.

Transfer from BA review on 4-2-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a hazy golden amber color with a one finger white head. The head has a moderate level of retention, fading over time to give a good level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is big and bold of the citrus hop smells. A large grapefruit hop smell is the heaviest and is mixed with some orange and lemon smells. Mixed with these are some smells of tropical fruits of mango and pineapple as well as smells of a bready and malty nature. Taste – The taste begins with a moderately malty and bready flavor mixed with a good dose of grapefruit hop. Upfront there is a decent caramel sweetness mixed with the hop and malt. As the taste advances the grapefruit hop bitters more in nature as some of the caramel gets lighter and the grapefruit gets a bit more intense. Toward the end some piney hop flavors bring another hop dimension to the beer and mix with a lighter tropical fruit flavor of mango and pineapple as well as the stronger grapefruit and bready flavors to leave a nice bitter but not overly bitter flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to just above average side in terms of its creaminess and thickness with a carbonation level that is a bit on the lower to average side. Both the slightly thicker body and slightly lower carbonation suit the hop flavors well, but still allow the sweeter flavors to be detected and help balance out the malty and hoppy flavors. Overall – A tasty IPA that is fairly easy drinking without any one aspect being too overpowering producing a fairly well balanced brew.

Aside from having dozens of different hops and dozens of different malts, it’s a good drinking IPA. Clean aroma of grapefruit and citrus. Some mild sweetness. Flavor follows with grapefruit on top and citrus. There’s some sweet finish but not a ton. It’s pretty nice drinking.

Draft to pint glass I can’t believe that I’ve never waited this before. As I was sitting in a bar having one I decided to check rate beer and realize there was no rating. Citrus. Spruce, hops, and some caramel. Clear light amber with a thin off white head, but moderate lacing. Light pepper, pine, spruce, some grains, and caramel. Classic IPA.
