COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you’re on.

22 US.fl.oz. bomber poured into a pint glass...

Appearance - Light amber body, with a very rich creamy beige head. Great head retention and amazing lacing! Looks very good for an American IPA!

Smell - The aroma is not very intense, but then again, the bottle I had was fairly old. Grapefruit, oranges, pine, a bit of flowers, and some nice bready notes on the nose.

Taste - The taste starts out with quite a good hop bite, with grapefruit-like bitterness and some pine. Then comes a surprisingly nice mild sweetness. Some caramel, some bread, and some toasted malts are also present. Finishes in a slightly dry and bitter after-taste.

Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium body to it. Low in carbonation. No real hints of alcohol, yet it may give a warming sensation to your body.

Drinkability - Goes down smoothly. For an American IPA, this is a very sessionable beer. Drinkable enough for a beginner hop-head, yet not too light or lacking on flavour.

Bottle. A very good West Coast IPA, lighter than some, but still full of fruity flavours and backed up by a load of bittering hops.

This beer needs to be fresh and is best on tap. It has a west coast pine zest aroma with some maltiness. Flavor follows suit. When fresh this is perfectly balanced straight to the finish but it doesn’t take much age for this beer to begin to take on an unbalanced sweetness

Bottle at a Wetherspoons in Reading. Typical easy drinking US IPA, though this gets the hops balanced just right. Could make for a good session.

Reviewed On: (8/4/14): *Glassware: Stemmed Tulip *Serving: 12 oz *Aroma: citrus, grapefruit, pine, tangerine *Appearance: Deep gold with three fingers of off-white head. The head has lots of bubbles. The head slowly receded to a one finger head. There was tons of lace left behind from top to bottom on the glass, after the beer was finished. *Taste: Pine upfront, sweet malt in the middle, and finishes w/ citrus and grapefruit notes. *Palate: Medium body, oily mouthfeel, fizzy carbonation on the tongue. Finishes super dry and bitter. *Overall: A great and easily affordable IPA that that is my go-to because I can it get it for a good price in my area, especially during summertime. Definitely a great buy for the case.

Very complex flavor. Some fruit tones mixed with a bit of spiciness. It finishes with a touch of bitterness. All and all nice IPA with a moderate ABV level that gives a nice kick.

Appearance: this beer pours with a very large beige head, takes a bit to pour it down, has a very nice density, the beer is a very clear golden color Aroma: bread, egg, kind of faint, Taste: citrus, very light grain, bitter, perhaps some alcohol, some malty caramel Palate: soft carbonation, bitter aftertaste, medium mouthfeel Overall: not bad but not my favorite ipa by a long shot, needs more from the hops than just bitterness, strong malt background but still bitter

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Soft white head, good lacing. Clear amber body. Nose full of tropical fruit, pine and fresh grass. Flavour is bitter grapefruit, light berries, grassy finish. Crisp, fresh. Medium carbonation, good mouthfeel, fairly thick. Dangerously drinkable.

330ml bottle poured in a chalice. A: Pours a clean orange golden color with a small beige head. Good retention and many lacings left S: Smells like a traditional American craft IPA. Very citric, earthy and mainly grassy smell of fresh hops. T: Follows the nose. Deliciously bitter and refreshing. You can feel some malts and yeasts but its trademark is, of course, the hops. Very good bitter stuff M: Light body, medium carbonation and nice bitter and grassy aftertaste D: High. To be drunk in gallons (preferentially, sitting in a bar around the San Francisco bay :p) [ BA Review @ 12/11/2010 ]
