Commercial Description:
From the first day of the first mash of the first recipe in the first space to this oasis 13 years on the road; We have worked hard to walk in the footsteps of our hero brewers. The Esteemed brewer of California's best Pale Ale, the Noble Brewer of the planet's only legal Steam Beer, and Oregon's Rebel Brewer from Newport. Thirteen years down the road, we have found our own voice as brewers but our admiration for the Great Ones has not dimmed one bit. If we walked well down the hero's path ourselves, perhaps we too have been an inspiration for others. Beer is a Bronze Age business and we feel honored to have left our footprints on its path into history, at the same time leaving our flavors on your buds. Thanks for your trust over the years and we hope you enjoy this specially brewed Hi-Gravity Auburn offering. Beer Speaks. People Mumble! O.G. 1.085 76.92 IBU

Bomber from Total Wine in Norfolk poured into a pint glass on 1/17/09. Pours a burnt red/amber color with a half inch off-white head and abundant lacing. Aroma is of mild citrus with orange and lemon and some floral hops with a good amount of sweet malt, spices, and raisins. Flavor is not bad at all. Largely bitter up front and very malty with hints of citrus and cinnamon that makes it slightly sweet. Has a long lasting nutty bitterness. Palate is a bit syrupy but still smooth with decnt carbonation and a very long finish. A great value at $3.99 for a bomber.

Crushed with Jakebra. Nice. Huge head that sticks around forever. Got plenty of awesomeness. Incredibly drinkable, surprisingly. One of the best Lagunita’s brews I’ve tried. Little too sweet in the finish. It’s no Arrogant Bastard, but pretty aight.

Bottle. Almandine body with a 1” foamy head. Nose-hoppy, lightly grassy, smells like a brewery floor. Taste-hoppy, citrus, grapefruit, mouth stinging like a strong geuze, very hoppy, strong crystal malt background, grassy. Good use of malts versus hops.

On tap. Pour is deep red with a lacy off white head. Aromas of sweet malts and piney hops. Flavor is well balanced with citrus, piney resin, and a smooth finish. Where is the alcohol? It is hidden very well in this guy. Solid.

Sweet hopped up aroma with roasted carmely notes, some cookie dough, and a little citrus and floral aromas. Rose amber color with a foamy off white head of short duration. Flavor is good an rich initially. Pops on the salty side with a fairly bitter hop richness. Flavors of brown sugar, oak, and some roasted meat. I like this flavor combination. Solid palate, creamy and rich with a good long duration. Very good.

22 oz bottle. Pretty nice aroma of melon, sweet fruit, brown sugar, sweet spices, and a variety of hop profiles, including pine. Small beige cream head on the pour, good lacing, and as described by lagunitas, auburn in color. I get a lot of the same notes from the aroma in the flavor description, but bitterness largely earth and pine and with a little citrus grapefruit, strong and intereting linger, highly chewy and sticky feeling, theres a ton of sweetness and bitter, but it seems slightly off balanced to me. Not bad at all however, with a lot of good things going here.
