emerica56 (575), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Aug 22, 2008 Pours a thick frothy off white head with some spotted laceing left along the sides. The color is a clear amber color and has a very floral hops aroma. The nose is kind of earthy and there are some notes of caramel malt. The initial flavor is nice and bitter with a nice bite on the tip of your lips. You can really taste the caramelized malt with that sugar that coats the side walls of your mouth. Overall it has a nice flavor with a great balance of bitterness and palatable flavor. AR (417), Georgia, USA Aug 22, 2008 Pours a somewhat dark amber with a slight reddish tint. There is a sticky, sugary, sweetness in the taste and a lingering caramel-hop flavor. fidel (887), Livermore, California, USA Aug 21, 2008 Updated: Aug 27, 2008Dark red amber, caramel, malty, honey, citrus, brown sugar, piney, hoppy, dry. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Aug 20, 2008 Smells chewy, chalky, woodsy, and heavy. Pours a bright red, with tan lacing. Decent carbonation and mouthfeel, and is less chewy than I expected after the aroma. Tastes much better than it smells too, and is nicely balanced. Gypsy19 (604), California, USA Aug 18, 2008 Bomber. A great beer, plain and simple. Tastes like a cross between Brown Shugga and Censored Kronik Copper Ale. Nice sweet honey, brown sugar, citrus, and hop flavors are present and eager. Lingering bitter palate, with slight esoghageal burn due to the well-masked 8.3%. Excellent overall. Will be looking for again. Thanks Lagunitas. RAYBOY01 (1820), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 18, 2008 Well hidden ABV on this Strong. Big PNW hop nose. Flavors are pine and grapefruit with equally robust caramel/toffee profile. Quite a nice surprise and will look for it again. Oakes (8080), gone rambling, Vietnam Aug 18, 2008 Hazy dull dark amber. Chewy caramel, earth, and woody slightly oxidized malt on the nose. Chewy, earthy, lagunitasy character. Very bitter and dry, and also rather chewy. TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle. Translucent copper pour. Tall sticky tan head leaves spiderweb like lacing in the glass.Nose is citrusy hops, caramel, sweet malts, and some earthiness and nuttiness. Taste is strong citrus laden hops, soft pine, chewy caramel, and sweet maltiness. There’s more of the earthiness coming through here as well as spicy hop notes. Body is medium-full and rather chewy. The carbonation is dense but creamy and this beer just goes down easy. Bit of lingering bitterness to it. Finish is more chewy malts and caramel, spicy hops, citrus fruits and some nutty flavors. Rather nice!
