dalepryor (172), Paducah, Kentucky, USA May 31, 2008 Poured from a 1 pint 6 oz. bottle into pint glass so this rating is on my second pour. Pours a brownish red copper color with 1 finger beige head that sticks around the entire drink. Aroma is heavy hops, i also smell sugar and malt. The flavor is really hoppy for a red ale. This beer is kinda wavering for me, at times its a little too bitter and at other times its really smooth. For 8.3% ABV it isn’t very noticeable the only time it actually stood out was after my 5th or sixth gulp. This is a great beer, the flavor has something new to offer every time you take a drink. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA May 31, 2008 Updated: Aug 11, 2009reddish brown with strong white head. nose has a lot of hops. flavor has hints of caramel malt and a nice hop bitterness but not much hop flavor. a very nice beer with a good deal of depth.
-re-rate:
solid hop flavor, but the large amount of munich malt and residual sweetness mutes it, while providing a malt backbone that becomes cloying after awhile. a solid beer, but either a sweeter malt profile or less residual sweetness might profile the hops and make for a better drinking experience jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA May 30, 2008 Pours copper with a large white head. Smells like Lagunitas. Not marijuana...well, close...but incredibly aromatic hops with just the right touch of malty sweetness. More of the malt comes out in the flavor, creating a very well-balanced (but still hoppily delicious) American-style anniversary brew. cbeers21 (563), Miami, Florida, USA May 30, 2008 Nice ruby red pour with solid and retaining head. Decent blended hop[ aromas and flavors sort of dance with spicy, caramel syrupy maltyness. Not a bad brew and one that explores a few different dimensions. one more please. phenol (7), USA does not count May 28, 2008 Amazing copper orange color, nice mouth feel, pine and grapefruit, a really enjoyable beer- fattibobatti (246), Tallahassee, Florida, USA May 27, 2008 abc liquor, st petersburg, florida. bottle. deep red pour with a thick head. aroma was powerful hops pine and citrus and sweet dark fruit. taste is a mild bodied hoppy and dark malt twist of citrus and carmel malt. as it warms more hops show up and leave a pleasant bitter finish. great beer. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA May 26, 2008 Deep dark amber coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of fresh hops, caramel, malt, raisins, yeast and even a bit of coriander seed. Medium-bodied; Strong alcoholic and hoppy flavour up front with a very potent sugary taste. Aftertaste shows way more malt and sugars than anything else - almost a Barley Wine, but still a good beer. Overall, a decent beer - not absolutely amazing, but a good beer! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 26-May-2008. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA May 26, 2008 650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours an amber-dark copper color with a big sudsy off-white head that left plenty of lacing. The aroma is resplendent with grapefruit, pine and biter grass. The flavor is hops forward with a good smooth biter bite, also present; citrus and gooey caramel. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. The finish is short and clean. Overall: This is a highly gulp-able ale that is gone from your glass before you know it. Recommended.
