TikiE (360), Sylva, North Carolina, USA May 13, 2008 Wow great beer! Got it at the local BP for $3.49...a great deal for this nice hoppy beer! Pours an amber ruby color with a thin off white head. Smells sweet and taste of a hops with a bitter finish. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA May 13, 2008 Copper to amber in color with a medium head of fine beige bubbles. The nose is dominated by citrus (grapefruit, lemon, orange rind) and rye. In the mouth this is medium-bodied and shows the same flavors as found in the nose, beginning with citrus and fading to rye in the midpalate. The hops reappear in the dry/bitter finish. This is fairly simple right now but should age well and hopefully become more complex BleacherBum (176), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA May 12, 2008 Nice brew. Big, hoppy, grainy beer. Very clear red ale. Nice frothy head. Spicy, bitter and malty all at the same time. Still needs to mellow a bit, but should be tasting really well a few months down the road. I agree with a previous rating that mentions rye. This should be easier to confirm a few months from now once the bitterness dies down a little bit. WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 12, 2008 Very tasty strong red ale. Tastes like it has a touch of rye in it somewhere, it has that dry spice to it. Not too hoppy or sweet, just a good big drinkable beer that is incredibly balanced. Will definetly be doing this again. msante79 (780), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA May 10, 2008 Bomber. Pours clear amber with a tanish off-white head. Aroma is piney hops, citrus and malts. Flavor starts with carmel malts, pine and citrus and finishes hop bitterness. Very hoppy brew for what I expected from a "Mondo Large Red Ale" as it is as much IPA as it is a red ale. A pleasent surprise from a brewerly I am starting to like very much.. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA May 10, 2008 hoppy piney aroma with citrus and sweet caramel malts. Pours amber with a thin white head. Pine resin with hints of citrus and caramel malts. It tastes sticky! Very hoppy. Good Beer! blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA May 10, 2008 A big hoppy chewy red ale, or I guess strong ale in some cases. I was luck when I found bombers of this stuff for $2.49 at a local market of choice. HughConway (364), Alabama, USA May 9, 2008 Bottle. Amber pour with thin head. Hop aroma. Deep amber and bitter. Nice beer.
