nuplastikk (1161), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 9, 2008 22oz bomber. Attractive brown-amber color. Surprisingly sharp, lemony aroma. This one is big, rich, and deep. Lots of caramel malt flavor, with a hearty, hoppy, bitter backbone. The amber(?) malt balances out quite well with the hops. This one gets extra points for the price. In an era when no one blinks an eye at a twenty dollar 750ml bottle, I picked this one up for around 4.00. Great beer at any price. rustychiles (1007), Mesa, Arizona, USA May 9, 2008 Pours a reddish brown with a small creamy tan head. This beer smells hopalicious!! I can also pick up on citrus and malts in the smell. Flavor is bitter, piny, malt sweetness, a little roastiness with the hops hiding a little behind the rest of everything. Pretty good brew, everything balances out pretty well. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 8, 2008 Pour is clear ruby amber with a thin tan head...smell is citric and resiny hops...taste is faintly toasty sweet at first with a nice resiny bitterness coming out in the finish... uhclem (188), Loveland, Colorado, USA May 4, 2008 Pours a clear copper with a long-lasting off-white head and good lacing. Nose is floral and citrus and earthy. Taste is of citrus, pine and roasted malt. Hops are perfect in their counterpoint. Nicely carbonated. Alcohol is well-hidden. Mouthfeel is lush, and the aftertaste reintroduces the hoppiness. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA May 4, 2008 Nice amber color and strong floral hop aromas. Some sweetness from the generous malts -- kind of a low roast. Very easy to drink at 8 percent. Smooth and a little sweet, but packed with rich hops. WinoInTraining (104), Longmont, Colorado, USA May 3, 2008 Very good Red Ale. Gorgeous clean amber color. Floral, hoppier than expected. Rich and expansive without being heavy. Great balance. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA May 3, 2008 Bottle... Poured red with a foamy white head. Aroma of twigs, malt and a dab of hops. Carbonation is well present with a constant sizzle on the tongue. Alcohol was definitly there in the flavor but was controlled by the dense malt flavors. Other flavors of hazelnuts and pine.
Finish is foamy and sweet. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA May 3, 2008 Pours a nice clear red color with a nice whitehead with decent lacing. Aroma of hops and lightly sweet malt. Clean finish with a crisp hoppiness.
