GMCC2181 (845), Bear, Delaware, USA Apr 28, 2008 Thanks to robert at SL for sharing! Hoppier then I expected! Which is right up my ally. Nice brown color. Sweet flavor as I said, nice bitterness. Medium texture. Good beer. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Apr 28, 2008 btl shared by Springslicker. Clean carmaelly malt aroma. Golden brown pour. Deep sweet flavor that is carmelly with a very nice finishing bitter. Carbonation is a bit aggressive for me, mouthfeel is solid. Soldi beer that is a bit surprising and the bitter is very pleasant. thanks Jay BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 28, 2008 Always been a gamblin’ man, loved the label and the beer fortunately wasn’t a disappointment. The beer poured the red color on the label with a solid beige foam that left lacing after the sip. The 8.3% was well hidden. Other than the color, this one resembles an IPA. Very hop-forward in the nose and on the palate. Grapefruit with just enough caramel to offset the tart. Nicely done!!!
Speedle (262), Mid-Atlantic (Tour 2007-2008), Virginia, USA Apr 28, 2008 nice fresh hop aroma, floral and light pine .... sweet and bitter flavor ... nice malt taste with a great hop bitter balance ... orange peels and maybe some light spice ... not getting any alcohol burn whatsoever (this is good - for me at least).... leaves with a west coast IPA lingering ... pine resin is dominant as it warms .... this is really good ... I’m f’n diggin this brew ... Lagunitas never disappoints JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Apr 27, 2008 22oz from Sam’s, Durham. Nice big pour, orange/red like hellfire, baby. Floral hops dominate the nose like ucusty sez, but once you start to taste the brew, it’s not really face-wrecking. It’s well balanced without compromising punch. Really good stuff. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Apr 27, 2008 red pour off white head moderate lace. Big hoppy aroma. lots of hops, yeast and malts. another winner from lagunitas... fg8080 (37), San Diego, California, USA Apr 27, 2008 Damn good red , smells of hops, carmel, pine. Taste how it smells . A well balanced all around great brew. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Apr 25, 2008 Picked this up at Fresh Market to my pleasant surprise. Medium clear amber, decent head fades slowly. Aroma of pine and some citric hops. Also some earthiness and caramel. Flavor essentially matches, with a bit of alcohol showing itself on a slightly sticky finish. I liked this beer. Having said that, Lagunitas is starting to remind me of Unibroue in some ways. I normally like the beers, but a great deal of the releases seem to be plays on the same basic concept. For Unibroue, it is the house yeast flavor that is the backbone of a myriad of "Belgian Strong" ales. For Lagunitas, it is a variety of West Coast hoppy and slightly sticky beers that wander around IPA/IIPA/AS territory. I’m also starting to wonder if I’m not detecting a slight house yeast note. Would have to try blind to know for sure, but there does seem to be a common thread to many, many of the beers.
