Clear amber body, creamy off white head. Nose was very hoppy. The taste was hops as well. Some malt charaecter comes in, and finished with more hops.

A tremendous 100th brew. Complex flavors that meld to form a now and later sent with a pungent aftertaste. Hoppy, big, earth, malt. Dark red, filtered.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 WISEGUY572 (1373) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 11, 2007
Dark clear amber with big off white head. Nose of west coast hops and malts. Taste is strongly west coast hops, pine and grapefruit, with sweet malt backbone. Distinctly Lagunitas, not especially novel. Really nice, and it would have knocked my socks off a couple of years ago. Now just another Lagunitas.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 chimpscampee (566) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 10, 2007
The dry bitterness I like but incredibly smooth drinking for the 8.3%. A unique zest. A piney lemon/grapefruite pale ale with very good flavor.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 ChillCoat (1030) - Concord, California, USA - MAR 10, 2007
Bottled. Rich garnet color with a creamy ivory head. Malt forward aroma with a nice hoppy fruit note. Sweet malt flavor with a big hop bitterness. A bit un-focused and a little sweet but that’s my take on an obviously well-brewed beer. Bitter finish.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 notalush (3751) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 10, 2007
Bomber from Bauer Wine and Spirits, Boston - clear ruby hue, with a compact, bubbly head - very spicy hop aroma, with background woody notes and mild caramel - the flavor is pretty standard lagunitas - bright fruity esters, followed by medium caramel sweetness, followed still by a huge hop kick coupled with notes of pine - tastes like a weak version of their imperial red, which itself tastes a lot like a bunch of other lagunitas beers - these guys are starting to copy themselves - this is bad news.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 apoptosis (1316) - Long Island, New York, USA - MAR 10, 2007
Nice-looking ruby-red body. Bright aroma - very fruity - strawberries, cherries and hops. The flavor is tasty and very hoppy, bitter but pretty well-balanced overall. I like it.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 waolsen (1300) - Littleton, Colorado, USA - MAR 10, 2007
bottle. redish/copper pour with nice clarity. foamy off white head. citrus hops, caramel, floral aroma. rich and full bodied. super hops, rich malts and prominant bitterness. nice brew. wouldn’t have guessed it was 8.5% alcohol.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 hayduke (2535) - Eureka, California, USA - MAR 10, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 23, 2009 This for me was the "best of show" at the March 9, 2007 Beer and Bread Beerfest in Arcata, CA.. Poured a simply beautiful dark amber tending toward copper that raised a remarkably attractive off-white head that left clean rings of lacing as it slowily diminished. Af first sniff you are simply blasted by the pine hops. Smells almost like an IPA. A couple swirls of the glass then released some wiffs of lemon. Mouthfeel is like liquid gold, with a wonderful zip to it without any bite. Flavors are more malts and caramel as it shows up as a strong ale instead of an IPA The alcohol is nicely hidden. You can probably tell I liked this one a lot, and for me is the best thing Lagunitas has ever produced. We simply have to get some on the shelves up here in Eureka so others can relish this fantastic brew.
