cmonster (73), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 19, 2009 Bomber served in a tulip. Deep dark amber in color. Good sized off-white head that leaves a substantial lace. Clear body, but looks dense. Big aroma that has a malty sweetness and a little hops. Barley wine-esque. Medium-full body. Almost candy-sweet flavor. Creamy and carbonated with a long, drying, bitter finish. This is quality brew! SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Jul 18, 2009 Cask at the brewery during RBSG09. Dark amber with a small head. Lots of grapefruit in the aroma with some lighter pine and caramel. Juicy grapefruit hop flavors and a big caramel malt sweetness. medium bodied with medium carbonation. Sweet and candyish but with tons of hops for balance. Bigsilky (322), Charleston, USA Jul 16, 2009 Very fresh nose of sweet citrus juice underscored by a touch of rind bitterness. This amber-red ale throws a lovely head. Juicy would be the best way to describe the palate. Fresh and oozing with hop fruit from start to finish. Malt is only here as a delivery device although it does find a nice balance on the tongue with sweet hops dancing. Dryish finish with some lingering sweetness and hop fruit. Refreshing for such a big beer, the booze is well hidden. Excellent price as well. 92 DalzAle (476), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA Jul 16, 2009 Bottle. Orange/amber pour, medium carbonation and a very rich and dry hop aroma (like homebrewing hop pellets). Flavor was sweet caramelly malt, burnt creme brulee sugar and finished with some nice dry spicy hops and some good alcohol burn. Decent beer, and well priced. Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 16, 2009 Bottle. Auburn bodied with half inch cream head that produced plenty of lacing. Redolent of fresh hops both fruity and earthy, pineapple, very citric, a little brown sugar, even a hint of cinnamon and a hint of chocolaty caramel. Flavor is extravagantly bitter and resinous at first, then bready, sweet caramel, light hint of dark fruit, then the full on fruitiness of pineapple and grapefruit, a little raisin, and hint of dark chocolate with the strong alcohol finish. Palate is slightly above average with obvious lupulin, and has a well carbonated finish. Couldn’t drink a lot of these due to the strength and sweetness but excellent nonetheless. drainey (231), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 13, 2009 22 oz bomber. Beautiful reddish gold body with a small white head. Aroma is hoppy with a fruity sweetness. Flavor was hoppier than I expected, balanced by subtle sweet bread and caramel notes. Light carbonation and quite nice to drink. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Jul 11, 2009 Bomber. Red brown pour with a small white head. Dishwater soap lacing. Hoppy aroma with mango as the main ingredient. Carbonation level is low, but not off putting by any means. Very drinkable. Malts are caramel and biscuits. Lagunitas has many beers that focus on hops and they tend to be solid in that department. Keep it up. BeerGuyTWMore (48), USA Jul 11, 2009 Pours copper with thick lacing off white head. Not much goin on in the nose: Strong malts and hops, alittle overwhelming. Alot more malt than I expected, a yeasty bread. Meshes well with the hops and sweet (caramel) malts. Maybe alittle more complex than I was prepared for, but very good none the less. Nice long finish
