Commercial Description:
From the first day of the first mash of the first recipe in the first space to this oasis 13 years on the road; We have worked hard to walk in the footsteps of our hero brewers. The Esteemed brewer of California's best Pale Ale, the Noble Brewer of the planet's only legal Steam Beer, and Oregon's Rebel Brewer from Newport. Thirteen years down the road, we have found our own voice as brewers but our admiration for the Great Ones has not dimmed one bit. If we walked well down the hero's path ourselves, perhaps we too have been an inspiration for others. Beer is a Bronze Age business and we feel honored to have left our footprints on its path into history, at the same time leaving our flavors on your buds. Thanks for your trust over the years and we hope you enjoy this specially brewed Hi-Gravity Auburn offering. Beer Speaks. People Mumble! O.G. 1.085 76.92 IBU

22oz. bottle. Aroma is full pf pine resin and honeyed, toasty amber malt sweetness, lightly floral, leafy and citric with lighter notes of caramel, red apple, apricot and cedar. Deep medium copper color, clear, with a lasting, thick, off-white head and accompanied by some impressive lacing. Flavor profile seems more hop-oriented, these plentiful, juicy, spicy, green and fresh, with touches of orange, grapefruit, spruce and tea leaves, combining with a lightly sweet, fruity and gently toasty malt presence, and seeing a good amount of bitterness towards the finish in particular. Very slightly noticeable touch of alcohol late, as well. Body is creamy, smooth and full with a lightly oily tinge on the palate. Really a well done Double Red ale but I wouldn’t have expected anything less from this brewer. Happy 13th. Thanks, Brian!

On tap and in bottles everywhere these days in Portland...and I love it!--Pours a rich amber body. Thick, dark, yet glowing sienna and crimson-ish. Nice thick white head. Piquant, spicy, bitter, malty, lush nose. Invitingly fruity and bold. Full-bodied might be an understatement. This beer rocks the bitter bombastic beast inside of this hophead.. Scrumdiddiliuptious, cuzzin!

Bomber Knowing that ’American Strong Ale’ is a placeholder category, Imperial IPA is probably the closest REAL category for this beer, except that the malt is a bit to prominent to fit. There is just a lot going on in this beer. A pretty red-tinged dark amber pour with a big and lacy pale yellow head. Creamy full body with moderate carbonation. Pine and grapefruit in the hops. Caramel-sweet apricot and nuts in the malt. Clean finish. My favorite brew from Lagunitas.

Pours dark amber with a mostly receding off-white head. Aroma of sweet mango, pine cones, spruce, and citric hops. Taste is hoppy, but not too aggressive. I need another. ARGH!!! This one’s a keeper, and at $3 a bomber, also a good deal!

22 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquor - Pours a light brown color with a one and a half finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is floral, and light pine and citrus hops. A nice IPA type aroma. Flavor is mostly hops, but has a lightly sweetend malt backbone. Smooth mouthfeel with no lingering aftertaste. Medium to full body. This is a good beer, but lacks the kick of an American Strong ale. Good beer.

Fiery copper color with a light tan head, great lacing. Nice aroma is a bit boozy with caramel malt and piney hops, also a whiff of oxidation. Medium body. Decent taste mirrors the smell with sweet malts and piney hops. Not too bad.

Bottle: Pours red in color with a white head. Aroma, grassy and herbal hop notes, some caramel and other sweet malts. Flavor, hey another lagunitas ASA shocking! caramel and brown sugar up front, with some earthy and citrus hops on the finish. Decent bitterness, just seems like they keep making the same beer over and over. Granted they do a decent job of it.

Pours a very clear reddish amber color with a small beige head. Smell is candy like malt and light fruity mild hops. Taste is hoppier than the nose would indicate, but still nice and sweet red candy like malt. Bitter, lingering hops that come in the way of some citrusy flavors. Nice beer and pretty tasty all around. Would get again.
