Kind of like a tropical punch with some strong grapefruit. Fruity with a subtle underlying sweetness that just sort of kisses the palate and is whisked away by a huge amount of hoppy grapefruit bitterness. Good stuff. bhensonb (4404), Woodland, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 9, 2007 Aroma of piney hop accompanied by some serious malt. It is a very marvelous aroma. Ruby amber color with essentially no head. Starts with a burst of sweet hop! Medium mouthfeel. Serious stone fruit sweetness, followed by piney bitter, finishing with that fruit sweetness balanced by hop. Dang it’s good. JFGrind (1361), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 21, 2007 I picked up a Bomber for around nine bucks @ Foodery II in Nothern Liberties, Philadelphia. In 1994 when Lagunitas Brewing was "born" red beers were still the rage. Lucky #13 is a "red" American Strong Ale with strong malt, hop and yeast flavors. I thought of it more of a barleywine "light" than a suped up IPA. Definitely worth trying! I followed my bomber up with a few Stegmaier Gold Medal returnables instead of a barleywine because Lucky #13 satisfied my micro palate for the night. vyvvy (2069), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 13, 2007 Pours clear bronze with a sudsy tan head with very good retention. The aroma is a beautiful hop f’n bomb - floral and tropical mainly with pineapple, coconut and Simcoe goodness with some semi-sweet toasted malt hiding behind the hops. Medium / full body with incredibly soft carbonation. The flavor starts with a taste that comes across as toasted tropical hops ~ just a great integration between the hops and malt. Then toasted malt stands on its own along with hops that have traits of pineapple, pine and wood. The finish has pine and Simcoe goodness with some richness from the malt. Thumbs up for this very well crafted anniversary brew. bb (2976), Martinez, California, USA

Sweet orange and grapefruit aroma with trpoical fruit. Mango, orange, grapefruit flavor with backing sweet malt. Nice balance - though hops linger. Good bitterness. Nice drinking beer. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2009 Deep gold, strong head and lacing. Aroma is hoppy and citrus peel. Nearly perfect body - strong malt perfectly balanced with a grapefruit bitterness. Maybe it’s the label, but I feel the need to listen to some rockabilly now. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Deep amber color out of the bottle with a two finger creamy beige head. Candied orange peel hops in the nose with notes of fresh pine and resin. Wow is this a big hop bomb. Tons of pine, peach, grapefruit rind, orange Jolly Rancher candies, all riding on a light buttered toast foundation. This is really sharp on the tongue and the palate pinching hop resin finish just makes you want to drink more. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2007 Deep coppery red, creamy white head. Intense peached caramel nose with underlying notes of earthy citrus, pine, brown sugar, and a hint of ripe melon. Moderate hop bitterness integrates smoothly on to a light wave of toasty brown sugar and toffee malt. Well balanced and designed. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, soft bitter finish. Should be considered for year round 6 packs...
