Very tasty strong red ale. Tastes like it has a touch of rye in it somewhere, it has that dry spice to it. Not too hoppy or sweet, just a good big drinkable beer that is incredibly balanced. Will definetly be doing this again.

Awesome awesome beer! Pours a semi cloudy amber colour with a huge sticky off white head. Aroma is hoppy. Strong aroma of grapefruit, caramel and lime. Taste is astringent, sort of chewy with big dank hoppy notes. As filling as it is. It is a very clean refreshing beer. Very round on the palate.

UPDATED: AUG 5, 2008 Amber colored, 2 inch frothy head. Nice dough and hop aroma. Very aromatic. Creamy mouthfeel. Very sweet and hoppy. Delicious. A real winner. Powerful finish. Why aren’t you drinking this beer, right now?

On-tap. Pours a deep orangish red with a somewhat thick head of off-white bubbles. Smells sweet and malty with bit of hoppiness in the background.
Tastes malty sweet up front with some caramel and sweet citrus and then a little bit of bitter hops hits on the back of the tongue and swallow. Thick, but smooth and crisp and does not coat the mouth too badly. Definitely more drinkable than say an Alesmith Decadence double red. Haven’t seen it here in SD in bottles though.

Another great candidate for Imperial Red/Amber Ale.
Appearance: Pours a vibrant, clear dark ruby with visible rising carbonation. The head is picture perfect fluffy white suds.
Aroma: Big citrusy hops, spicy malt and ripe red berry.
Taste: Bitter piny hops, grapefruit, spicy malt. Finishes with lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, sticky with moderate carbonation.
Overall: I fell in love with this beer 4-5 years ago. My palate has transformed a bit, my tastes have changed slightly, so it’s good to know I picked a winner that I can still get behind.

Bottle from GBBF. Pours a deep amber/red with a nice lasting head. Has aromas of barley sugars, pears, peaches a very nice smell indeed! Flavours of dessert pears, light hops, coriander. Lots of hops in the finish.

Bomber served in a tulip. Deep dark amber in color. Good sized off-white head that leaves a substantial lace. Clear body, but looks dense. Big aroma that has a malty sweetness and a little hops. Barley wine-esque. Medium-full body. Almost candy-sweet flavor. Creamy and carbonated with a long, drying, bitter finish. This is quality brew!

From Larry’s Liquors in Pt Roberts, WA. Bet YOU haven’t been there! A good looking beer, with a nice hazy copper body and a creamy ivory head. Aroma was a pleasing meld of malt and spices, beneath a blanket of bitter hop. Rich on the palate, almost overly so and wasn’t the finish the same. Totally enjoyable.

22 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass. Bottled on July 13th. A little old but hopefully not past its prime. A solid inch of lumpy head formation slowly dissipates. Deep amber color. Reminds me of bourbon. Light carbonation. Good lacing. Very nice smell. Light, fruity hops. I don’t know if I would call it fresh but definitely lively. The must have been amazing when it was younger. Rich malt notes of molasses and maple syrup lie just below the hoppyness. Fairly light body but with a robust texture. A smooth sip with an interesting finish. Hoppy enough so that when the malt comes through you get hints of coffee and dark chocolate and not just sweet. It reminds me a little bit of a dubbel in that respect. Very quaffable for such a big beer. I will restate my original sentiment: the must have been amazing fresh! It has been years since I have had this and will try to make it a point to pick one up next year as soon as they hit the shelf.

Much better than the first red ale of the evening. Much better than what we are currently drinking, that’s a no brainer. We think we may have seen boobs, so apperance is awesome. The rating system is messed up, so our ratings are as follows:
aroma: 13
appearance: 13
taste: 13
palate: 13
overal: 17 - because let’s face facts, 7 is more than 13.
Overall, we approve of the name.
