Aroma is hoppy with a fruity sweetness. Flavor was hoppier than I expected, balanced by subtle sweet bread and caramel notes. Light carbonation and quite nice to drink.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 3, 2010 22 oz bottle poured into a standard pint glass. The color was a bright red-orange with a perfect white head that settled to a creamy coating on top of the beer. The smell was a little grassy hops. The taste was some caramel, more grassy hops, some citrus, and alcohol. The alcohol really tingled my mouth and was not at all hidden. That definitely takes away from the drinkability. If you like reds give this one a try. Not as good as Nugget Nectar but still pretty tasty.

Pours a pretty brown amber orange with attractive half-inch or so soapy stick-around head. Caramel, hops and maybe raison on the nose. Creamy, substantial mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Malty sweetness prolog to trailing bitter finish. Balanced. Very nice beer. BVery (678), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 19, 2009 BOTTLE: Killer stuff. I grab the bottle and read this very humble shout-out to other great brewers (printed on the label), then I try the bottle’s contents....and it takes a backseat to no one. Clear red-orange pour with a beautiful huge soapy head. Smells like a caramelized IPA - full aroma. Taste - pine hop with loads of creaminess that makes it very easy to drink (yet loaded with hop flavor), full mouthfeel - this is just an exceptional brew all the way around, and done in true Lagunitas style. Hats off - well done! Toxygen (413), Sanford, Florida, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2009 Pours deep garnet, more copper when held to the light with a 1-2 finger creamy beige head that has good retention and leaves a sand smear of lacing on the opposite side of the glass. Aroma is big on sweet caramel, citrus hops, rich floral notes, toasted nuts, some medicinal notes on the back end. Flavor is sweet, caramel and grainy malts right away, lots of sweet citrus (orange, tangerine and blood orange) light ceral and nutty notes, a little toffee and again light medicinal notes. Palate is medium bodied, syrupy-somewhat creamy throughout and lightly carbonated. Not too shabby really, were it not for the medicinal notes it would score higher, but as it is it is one of my favorite offerings from Lagunitas.
