Mondo Large Red Ale
From the first day of the first mash of the first recipe in the first space to this oasis 13 years on the road; We have worked hard to walk in the footsteps of our hero brewers. The Esteemed brewer of Californiaís best Pale Ale, the Noble Brewer of the planetís only legal Steam Beer, and Oregonís Rebel Brewer from Newport. Thirteen years down the road, we have found our own voice as brewers but our admiration for the Great Ones has not dimmed one bit. If we walked well down the heroís path ourselves, perhaps we too have been an inspiration for others. Beer is a Bronze Age business and we feel honored to have left our footprints on its path into history, at the same time leaving our flavors on your buds. Thanks for your trust over the years and we hope you enjoy this specially brewed Hi-Gravity Auburn offering. Beer Speaks. People Mumble! O.G. 1.085 76.92 IBU

I agree with shigadeyo, so I have borrowed some of his words... Amber red in color with a clear complexion, a thick, foamy beige-colored head, a super fresh hoppy aroma that jumps out of the glass, and a strongly malty and hoppy flavor, this is one super big red ale! As mentioned, the aroma showcases a really fragrant hoppy (pine, resin, some citrus and grass) along with some toffee-like maltiness and dried peach fruitiness. The flavor delivers true to the aroma and is really nicely balanced between a resin and vague citrus hop flavor with a moderate level of bitterness and slightly roasted, heavy fruity, sweet caramel maltiness. More and more citrus (tangerine a sweet red grapefruit) and earthiness become evident with each passing sip and as the beer warms. This beer feels strong, but the flavor definitely supports it and the alcohol is extremely well-hidden. This beer has a medium-full body and is very smooth, even a bit mellow, and really easy to drink. This beer is a pleasure to drink. Another fine offering from one of my favorite breweries.

Poured into a tulip glass, amber brown with minimal tan head, some lacing, light hop, malt aroma. Really good beer.

Big bottle. Pours a hazy light amber. Medium head. Aroma is a caramel syrup, floral hop, resin, biscuit tofee. Medium bitterness. Sugary malts. Medium heavy body. Big malt, big hop. Not that great. Maybe old skunked? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from QClub at home. Clear deep copper pour with dense foamy head and thick lacing. Aroma is malty and sweet with candied fruity hoppiness, apricot - smells great. Taste is big and hoppy (pine, pineapple, apricot) but with solid maltiness to support. Great balanced beer. Somewhat similar to a really hoppy dead guy.

Bottle. Red amber pour, lots and lots of head with plenty of lacing to boot. Aroma, big, sweet, and malty, brown sugar, hops. Taste, lots of malty sweetness up front, followed by some nice hop presence, medium mouthfeel, finishes slight dry with some bitter sweetness, the bitterness lingers a bit. Overall itís a touch sweet for my likings, still itís pretty darn tasty.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had an orange/amber/slightly brown colored body with a two finger white foamy head that rises a bit and then falls leaving a decent amount of clingy foamy lacing in its wake. The smell had a very caramel-forward, and a decent amount of breadiness, hopped just enough to keep the "hopheads" satisfied on this brew. The taste had caramel flavored hops - well balanced, holey moley, very well balanced, caramel aftertaste, no finish. On the palate, it sat about a medium, uh - maybe sessionable - perhaps. The carbonation seemed good for the style and for me, becomes slightly creamy. Overall, this is a very flavorful American Red Ale that is quite impressive with intriguing characteristics, well balanced, and I would most likely come back to this.

A- Pours a deep sunset orange color with a nice, 2 finger head that leaves tons of lacing. S- Very malty, tons of sweet brown sugar, bready notes. T- Starts off sweet and malty, caramel and brown sugar notes are immediately followed with a wall of piney hops which fades quickly with a very dry and somewhat bitter finish. M- Medium bodied with quite a bit of carbonation. D- This was a very enjoyable beer. Certainly one of the best iíve had from lagunitas. If youíre expecting a red ale, you might be disappointed but it is a damn good beer.

Sticky caramel malt with resinous background. Orange copper appearance. Very sweet with a bitter hoppy dryness being the lasting effect. Slick body with heavy weight and ultimately very dry. The problem with imperial reds is the malt bill usually doesnít mesh with the hops, this one is no exception but itís quite good nonetheless.

On tap @ Cork City. Pour is reddish brown with a finger-wide tan head. Aroma is of dark caramel malt, pine needles, and roast. Flavor is similar but with more hop resin present.
