3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 sneagrams3 (2337) - St. Louis, USA - SEP 14, 2011
Tasted 9/14/11. Bomber bottle. Pours mildly hazy with a honey golden hue. Moldy off-white head. Aromas of honey, grape candy and mild citrus. Full bodied with a lot of dimensions to the palate. A decent lingering alcohol burn. A cooked sugar sweetness, dark berry sweetness, honey nuance with an astringent effervescence. What a fun style. Earthy, yet sweet and tangy. Nice and estery with an herbal aspect. Very nice.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 theOptimator (231) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUN 2, 2012
Aroma is pineapple citrus hop aroma forward. Same heavy hop aroma that is in nearly all Lagunitas beers. Appearance is crystal clear orange apricot copper with small tan head. Taste is pineapple citrus hops aroma forward, followed closely by heavy sweet malt, and then a smooth lingering tangy hop bitterness. Palate is medium and crisp, especially for such a hugh gravity beer. Hides alcohol very well. Overall a very good beer. I will say that I am not loving the fact that nearly all of Lagunitas beers have the same huge unique overpowering hop profile. While excellent, nearly all their beers taste exactly the same.

Draft. Amber/red pour, massive off-white head, good retention/some lace. Aroma of citrus, orange candies, pine. Taste is resin, piney, citrus hops, sweet caramel. Palate is oily, a bit sticky, bitter finish. Another hopbomb from Laguintias.

Fresh bomber into a duvel glass. Pours a clear orange amber with 2 inches of off white head that shrinks to coat the top with ok lacing. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, oranges, bread, and faint lemon. Flavor is tangerine, biscuit, caramel, leather, mild grapefruit, and some lemon. Thin mouthfeel and well hidden abv. Nice beer.

On tap at The Hay Merchant. Pours a clear orange copper with a large frothy white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is floral hops and pine. Thin mouthfeel with a smooth sweet hop and light bitter finish. Easy to drink a very impressive American strong ale from Lagunitas.

Pours an orangish gold color with a white foamy head, aroma of citrus, pine and floral hops The aroma is fruity and sweet, with a load of citrusy, floral and piney hops. This is a hoppy strong ale with malt backbone. A really good beer.

A - pours very clear very light amber. Has high fluffy white head that lasts and leaves a strong ring. S - strong hoppy notes up front. Tropical fruits, bitter citrus - grapefruit- nice malts on the nose as well. M - medium bodied malt explosion with light dry bitter hop end. T - taste is mostly strong sweet caramel and vegetal malts. Palate is toasted malts, dry grains, bitter citrus and tropical fruits. O - not well balanced brew. Malts and hops don't go together. 6
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Chipalsa (709) - Florida, USA - MAY 20, 2012
This is my favorite Lagunitas brew by far. The nose is a huge offering of pine, honey, grapefruit and fresh bread. While the body is damn near a hop bomb, there is almost a honey-oat bread finish that gets more dry sip after sip. The aftertaste, as I can describe it, is like chomping down on a Christmas tree. Cheers!

Draft. Pours golden orange with a white head. Fruity hoppy aroma with sweeter malty notes. The flavor is well balanced, with fruity citrus, pine, sweet caramel malts, and a nice bitter floral finish.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bhensonb (7598) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 13, 2012
Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours light copper/amber with a creamy/fizzy white head. There seems to be a lot of resin in the nose. Nearly full bodied with strong, but soft, carb. Flavor is resin over roast malt, there’s a barley wine similarity (heavily hopped barleywine), and there’s also something extra in terms of veg/herb hop. Tarragon? Or maybe it’s light pitted fruits. Whatever, it is unidentifiable by me, but it certainly enhances the beer. I’m rashly guessing that the alt refers to alternative rather than style. For some years I’ve missed the little alt on 13 labels. Glad to have finally noticed!!!!!!!& Finishes quite bitter. Very nice.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 timfoolery (661) - California, USA - MAY 13, 2012
Bottle from Scott and Total Wine. Aroma is straight up piney hops...smells like a Xmas tree farm. Taste is not too far off either. Bitter up front hop with very little presence in the middle and even less in the finish. Nice malt balance to this one. Good beer.
