4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber bottle. Pours a slightly hazy reddish amber with a thin slightly greenish head. Some loose hop material at the bottom of the bottle. Very aromatic with notes of floral hops and some malty sweetness. Taste is hoppy, good bitterness with notes of citrus that warms to an ever-so-slightly sweet malt body with notes of caramel. Very full bodied, this is a thick beer, but only lightly carbonated. Finishes with a spruce-ish bitterness. This is a very fine strong ale, would probably benefit from a tad more carbonation to push the aroma and head a bit more, but is well balanced. Another good one from Lagunitas....

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
"another nice effort from Lagunitas. lighter than the Lucky 13 (the only beer i could think of as comparison) even though it’s a little sticky and either hoppier or just fresher than the 13 (which is entirely possible). spice, caramel and fresh hop aroma and flavor."

Transfer from BA review on 7-8-13-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance- Pours a clear golden amber color with a two finger white head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a nice level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma of the beer is a mix of sweet and hoppy. The sweet is a blend of tropical fruits and a large dose of caramel with the hoppy being of a predominant grapefruit and citrus aroma.
Taste- The flavor starts out rather sweet with a strong caramel and brown sugar flavor mixed with some tropical fruit flavors. A citrus hop flavor is present upfront which grows stronger as the flavor advances more toward the end. Along with the increase in the citrus hop comes an increase in the sweeter more sugary flavors of caramel and brown sugar all at the expanse of some of the fruit. In the end the still very sweet flavor is met by some more hop of a pine and a floral nature which in the end leaves a rather sugary hopped but pleasant flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew was average in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that was rather average as well. Both suited the mix of sweet and hoppy flavors rather nicely and made for a rather easy drinker even at 8.8 % abv.
Overall- A rather sweet but tasty, none the less, IPA with an easy drinking style. While not quite up to the traditional Lucky 13 it was an interesting take, and is well worth the try if you get a chance.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2012 bottle, part of my Sunday 2014 cellar clean out day. Copper color with still perfect carbonation leaving a decent head retention. Aroma is orange marmalade, pine hops with some light grassy hops. Good amount of citrus.
Flavor shows light bitterness upfront in the form of grapefruit and hints of resin. Big malt backbone giving a sweet bread and caramel. Secondary flavor of candy sugar and sweet grain. The balance between the pine hops and citrus and sweetness is pretty nice. Texture is slick with the alcohol being totally subdued at this point. Overall very drinkable, nice sipper.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Light copper, orange hue. Creamy, off-white head.
Sticky, sweet malts, juicy grape candy (jolly ranchers/fruit roll up). Smells great. Resinous hops.
Reminds me a Stone AB with a lighter malt bill. Hop profile of an barley wine, Blue Point Old Hollowing Bastard. Booze is present and warming.
Beer is on-point.

Bottle from total wine McLean. Pours orange with a thin white head. Lots of lacing in the glass. A bit of alcohol on the nose. The taste notes are more spruce. Not my favorite from Lagunitas.
