Jun 1, 2008 Clear amber, small off-white head. Toffee and dates in the aroma, leafy/earthy hops. Sweet toffee malt, dates, moderate hop character (less than many other Lagunitas brews I’ve had). This one was just okay for me, it actually seemed a little weak.

Jun 1, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours reddish-brown. Tan head. Aroma of resiny hops, deep caramel. Some Alcohol in the nose. Flavor is a sharp bitterness, with complex hop flavors. Some hints of chocolate malt flavors in the finish. It is a dry, bready, rich malt. I like these American Strong Ales with the hop flavors that hit first, then the rich malt complexities show up in the end Full bodied and full of flavor. Overall it is a very good AmStrong, although I have had better from Lagunitas... Cheers!

Jun 1, 2008 bottle. pours amber with creamy white head. aroma of leathery hops and toasted biscuit. flavors are much of the same. a pretty tame ASA but this still had nice hop profile and clean malt profile. pretty good.

May 31, 2008 This was a dark amber and a thick white head with some malts and hops with a little bitter finish overall ok but i have had better.CHEERS!

May 28, 2008 Dark copper, brownish clear pour, beige head. Aroma is caramel malt, a bit of roast and some citrusy hops. Moderately sweet taste with caramel, dark fruit, good dose of American hops in the middle and finish. Medium body, balance is fine. I liked Frank and I like this beer.

May 28, 2008 Updated: Aug 30, 2008Bomber pours clear copper with light tan head. Aroma is not strong but malt and hops hints. Taste is caramel and malt, very well balanced with no after taste.

May 27, 2008 A decent beer. A little light on flavor. Slightly sweet, little hop aroma. Warming feel as well. Not as good as the other Zappa. This is more like Ahmet or Dweezil

May 27, 2008 Bomber thanks to Dunk! Poured clear mapley-amber with a well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up caramel and cerealy sweetness backed by spicy and earthy hoppage.. some brown sugar gave additional sweetness. The flavor was on the strong side with drawn caramel, faint redder fruits, and brown sugar surrounded by a heavy, but not complimentary bitter array (earth and pine primarily).. peppery spices and alcohol warmth joined in.. little cohesion. Medium-bodied, dry, and grainier on the palate with bitterness and booze really leaving the impression on the finish. This didn’t do it for me.
