gator2683 (133), Anchorage, Alaska, USA Apr 3, 2008 weak armoa of sugar and alcohol, deep brown pour with lingering head. begins sweet and malty, a little sticky, but then the alcohol comes through strong at the very end, with a decent hop aftertaste. i think i agree with the others in that somewhere in the middle theres some unpleasantness, probably wont buy again jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Apr 3, 2008 Bottled: Pours an attractive cabernet / clear with a tan head that faded leaving thick lacing. Sweet fruity nose, but a bit syrupy sweet on the tongue with an unpleasant acrid bitterness. Alcohol is too forward, and although the roasty character is nice, it is just average. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Apr 3, 2008 bomber. deep ruby color with a nice 1 finger thick cream head. roasted malts and fruit on the nose. slight hop flavor and a nice bitter hop aftertaste. Beershine (2677), Hue, Vietnam Apr 3, 2008 Pretty pour with lots of lacing, a big frothy head, and a deep garnet hue. Mild aroma of brown sugar. Sweet and bready beginning, yielding to a crispy hop aftertaste. Pretty balanced in spite of seeming sweet at first. Thin, quaffable palate. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 2, 2008 Bomber. Pours a crystal clear dark mahogany color with a two finger off-white head. Nose is subtle with some malt and a little yeasty bread. Palate is toffee, bread and roasted sugary malt, with a touch of bitter hop in the finish. An interesting beer. Not great, but drinkable. dkachur (2316), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Apr 2, 2008 Bomber from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours reddish-copper with a small head, good lacing, retention. Aroma and taste are very similar, both strong bread and cereal. Not much bitterness. Really a pretty average beer. Brewsmith (136), Torrance, California, USA Apr 2, 2008 From a 22oz. bottle purchased locally. Aroma is malty, with a little toffee/caramel in there. Smells similar to a doppelbock... Appearance is red amber and brilliantly clear. Small creamy off-white head. Flavor is very malty with a touch of roasted character in the background. Bitterness in there, but balanced to the malt. Full bodoed, rich and dries pretty well. Easy drinking. This beer is like an American Ale version of a doppelbock. Higher in gravity, but still balanced. A very nice special release. Miver (551), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 1, 2008 22 oz bottle. Poured dark amber brownish with a quickly diminishing tan head. Aroma of strong caramel and light citrus hops. Taste is of brown sugar, caramel malts, mild citrus hops, and touches cinnamon and spices. The finish has some alcohol warming and comes across maybe a little too sweet.
