22 oz. bottle on 3/9/2008. Pours a light brown mahogany with a large off white head, some decent lace, all settling to a thin layer over a few minutes. Dark fruitiness of ripe figs, dates, and raisins, and lurking underneath some peppery spice. Medium body and carbonation, resinous feel, dry palate. Burnt caramel flavors and spicy bitterness come on quickly, finishes dry with a slightly astringent bitterness.

22 oz. brown, bomber bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a dark copper color, with a sticky tan head. Aromas are of toffee, caramel, slight roastiness. Flavors are malts, burnt sugars, some roasted malts, earthy hops. Well balanced. Medium mouthfeel, rich, slick & oily. Finished bold, bright, and clear. Tasty beer. Very tasty.

bottle from Ft Wayne tasting - Ok, my notes are lousy on this one, mostly because I just didn’t know what to make of it. I wrote a few comments and a big question mark. It pours clear amber with a big head. It smells mostly of malt. The flavor has a pretty good hops balance though. It’s medium bodied, has some mild hops in the finish, and well, it’s alright though just plain odd.

Color is a beautiful clear mahogany reddish-brown with a fine-bubbled and pale tan head. Aroma is malty with hints of spices. The rich, very malty flavor has a spicy undertone and a noticeable hop component. Finish is smooth with just a little bitterness.

Pours dark amber with a decent head. Fruity aroma. Flavor of dark dried fruits balanced with bitterness. A pretty average beer.

Bomber. Pours a clear dark brown with a fluffy brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is spicy with some floral notes. Taste is more of the same, with some notes of pepper, nutmeg, brown sugar and mouthwash. Mouthfeel is kind of light. High carbonation and lingering spicy aftertaste.

Translucent brown. Average off white head. Aroma rich of mall with a touch of hop piness. the flavor is more hoppy, but has a nice malt balance. Clean, somewhat bitter finish.

Unusual dark ale that is drinkable but not great. Piney resin. Toasty and doughy. Apricot and some citrus flavor. Oily. Bit acidic especially in the aftertaste/finish. Carmel. Frothy lasting head.
