dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Feb 29, 2008 A nice aroma. Flavor is solid; it doesn’t come off as overly heavy, but certainly isn’t a light brew. A bit of a coating character comes on late. Good from start to finish. mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Feb 28, 2008 Pint bottle- poured semi transparent very dark ruby brown, tan head bubbled away, light carbonation. Aroma of malts with a sugar note. Hits the mouth with a medium wide body, alcohol is noticeable, heavy malt taste, finish is bitter with sweetness. Very complex brew. HughConway (364), Alabama, USA Feb 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours clean, nice thick creamy head. Deep garnet brown. Simple taste, nice clean mouth feel. Could drink the entire night. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Feb 27, 2008 I thought this was an IPA. Opps. Big puffy and creamy head. accidently poured into a shaker. Bold is a dark reddish brown. Nose is bitter and malty. Mouth feel is pleasant and a bit watery. Taste is bitter and malty and somewhat dry. I don’t get much esle. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Feb 27, 2008 22oz bottle, courtesy of artusory. Thanks, Ryan! Pours a clear, medium tea-brown color; light tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Sugar, brown sugar, and dried fruits in the aroma; sweet, if somewhat straightforward. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: sticky, chewy sugars, candy sugar, brown sugar; lacking complexity, as the aroma suggests, but tasty enough, if a bit sticky; minimal amount of alcohol poking through. Medium finish: sticky sugar and some lingering bitterness. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Feb 27, 2008 Clear, light brown body with a tiny tan head. The nose is lightly sweet with toffee, raisins and brown sugar. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter with cola, caramel, tea, light citrus and flowers. Medium/full body is rough with moderate carbonation. BMan1113VR (2755), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Feb 26, 2008 Toasted malty aroma with a bit of grass in the background. Pours with a large, creamy, off-white head with a clear darkish brown body. Good lacing.Flavor is somewhat bland with some malty bittereness in the finish. Watery mouthfeel and soft carbonation with just a hint of warming alcohol. Well priced at $3.75 for a 750. Pretty good. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA Feb 26, 2008 Pours deep copper with a small white head. Sugary, somewhat spicy--almost dubbel-ish--aroma. As the beer warms, molasses becomes dominant. Bready, syrupy flavor with a touch of mustiness and very little hop presence. Small amount of alcohol and an odd mineral-ish flavor on the finish. A refreshing change of pace from their usual IPAs, but somewhat of an undecided brew.
