Rich copper with a tan head...thin on 1st sip, but very refreshing....mild use of hops, bitter finish....aroma--well not much to it....some malt, a sniff of sweet...on a vigorous swirl and deep sniff, I smell orange....very un-complex brew...alcohol well disguised...props to that...some drippy lacing overall--good and easy to drink for a high %

Pours a darker amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is dissapointing. A little bit of roast and a lot of sweetness with some dark fruits in there. Flavor is better with more of a blance. Has a bitter finish but not much of a hop flavor. I was hoping for better from Lagunitas.

On tap at Brick Store Pub enjoyed with Dave. Smell is a strong good IPA. That overwhelms the brown, which is a tribute to dark malts, some roast, and an attempt at balance. There is some lemon. A lot of ideas that make it depend on the mood and what you are eating, and this is an American strong and not a brown.

This will be my 333rd Rating - 1/3 the way to 1000. As a new, special-edition of my of my favorite brewers, I decided to let this sit in the fridge a few weeks to serve as my latest benchmark. Much better than the previous FZ offering (KUR). Very sweet and creamy, huge hops on the nose that are suprisingly underscored by the super rich and sweet, roasted caramel malt base. There is an underlying berry sweetness along with a mild hop leaf presence. Really a fantastic drink, Lagunitas bread-and-butter. Keep on rocking their pants off - planning my first to to the Lagunitas Brewery early summer; hopefully no undercover-shutdown occurs during my visit. Good times.

sugary-malt on nose. on palate malt dominates with alcohol starting to show-up about 1/2 way. finish is dry and somewhat bitter, interesting brew, and in opion the finish makes this beer worth drinking

Slight aroma of dark fruits and caramel. Pours a dark red with half a finger of tan head. Very thick mouthfeel. Touch of roasted flavors, and then the hop bitterness comes out to play. Not a bad beer, but nothing special (besides the FZ reference.)

22 oz bottle via Roth’s. She pours clear dark copper with a large beige head. Not getting much from the nose..just a bit of chocolate, subtle smoke and some caramel. There are a lot of flavors. The caramel is there and part of a solid malt backbone. Also some chocolate, some hazlenut, a bit of smoke, and some earthy and grapefruit hoppiness. Very balanced with a lingering bittersweet aftertaste. Body is medium and carbonation low to medium. Is a bit cloying. But quite tasty and drinkable. Much better than the horrid scores indicate. I wonder if people are drinking this too cold? I don’t know but at about 50f it is quite flavorful!
