NobleSquirrel (1101), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 8, 2008 I was kind of surprised by this one, as it smelled and tasted of distinct hops, though it had neglected the bittering aspect. When I smell and taste a lot of hoppy character, I would like something to back it up and I felt this was lacking. Mediocre. Darkover (1308), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 8, 2008 Dark amber color with a medium beige head. Aroma of caramel malt and some fruit/berries. Flavor of sweet malts and hops. Aroma – Nice aroma with some subtle high alcohol flavors. Really tasted the hops.
Appearance – Brown color, clear and a thin head.
Flavor – Nice tasting beer The hops where nice this beer was very drinkable when cold.
Palate – Decent Mouthfeel, semi dry finish very flat if gets too warm better cold.
Overall –. A nice beer it finishes flat but overall it drinks well it does not have a high alcohol flavor.
hapjydeuce (765), Del Mar, California, USA Feb 8, 2008 Bottled, shared at the PP Bottle Shop 2/7 tasting. Clear medium copper color with white bubbly edges and minimal head with spotty lace. Pine forest aroma with roasted caramel and some sappy hops doing their thing. Floral and pungent citric phenols with grape and a firm malt presence make for an enjoyable session brew. Spicy and peppery hops touch it off well with some bitterness sticking around in the aftertaste that fades relatively quickly. ElGaucho56 (386), USA Feb 7, 2008 Draft @ BSP. Pours a dark reddish brown with decent thick cap and some stratified lacing. Nose is mildly fruity, almost like strawberries, faintly grassy and rather sweet. Burnt toast, biscuit malt, and brown sugar coat the palate, ending up with an earthy, slightly leafy bitter finish. Not bad, but not great. Seems like Lagunitas just kinda cranks these varieties out. k4df4l (154), DTown, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 7, 2008 Bottle - poured a deep red with off white foam. Aroma of musty dank basement and malt. Flavor is sweet and malty, caramel/toffee with a light coffee note balanced by an assertive hoppy finish. As the beer warms the coffee becomes more demonstrative. Medium to medium full palate. brewblackhole (1367), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Feb 6, 2008 Bright sweet malt aroma, chcolate dough and caramel also there, tastey chcolate caramel(like a rolo) taste with plenty of hop bitterness in finish ,I don’t know if this brew is that good ,but coming home during a blizzard like storm ,this tasted fantastic when I got home jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 6, 2008 Bottle.
