nimbleprop (822), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Feb 1, 2008 Bomber. Pours a transparent dark brown, copper color with a frothy, foamy bone colored head. Mild aroma of balance hops (pine and citrus) and sugary malt (toffee and caramel). Flavor is sugary, slight citrus and nice toasted biscuit flavors. Finish is smooth with just a touch of dryness from the malt. Pretty good overall, not sure what sets this beer apart, but very nice for what it is. HighGravity (890), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Feb 1, 2008 A good straight forward malty brown ale with a spicy hop finish. The palate is fairly sweet and enjoyable. Arayaga2 (934), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 30, 2008 Reddish brown color with thin white head Aroma is cotton candy and citrus, with light malty undertones. Taste is same with a hint of metallic tartness, quite a bit of toasty caramel, and moderately bitter hop finish. PhillyHomeBrew (176), Forest Hills, New York, USA Jan 30, 2008 Clearish redish brown body with no head. There is a sugary malty aroma to the beer with just a bit of lemon citrus and apple. The flavor has a bit of apple, but has a bit of a celery flavor and dry finish. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Jan 30, 2008 22 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a clear deep mohogany color with a one and a half finger thick off white head. Aroma is floral and light citrus hops with some light toasted caramel malt hiding in the back. Lacing is light with tiny spots. Flavor is toasted malt with some light citrus hops. Medium body. No lingering aftertaste. Fairly well balanced. I was hoping for more hops. Oh well, it’s still pretty good. darn1207 (529), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jan 30, 2008 bomber. pours clear amber color with medium beige head. aroma of malt and caramel. taste light syrup and nuts. finishes dry. comes off a little thin and slightly boring. Delirium (495), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jan 29, 2008 Bomber. Pours dark amber-brown with ruby tinges and a moderate beige head. Aroma is floral hops, brown sugar, bread, hazelnut, and slightly roasted malt. Flavor is semi-sweet malt, biscuits, pine, light citrus, toffee, hazelnut, a hint of roasted malt, and some background earthiness. Not what I expected at all, but I like it. It’s not the hop-heavy brew you’d expect from a west-coast American Strong Ale, but it’s quite complex and interesting on the malt bill, sort of reminiscent of a good doppelbock, yet with enough hops and earthiness to keep from being cloying. AlabastorJones (762), San Francisco, California, USA Jan 28, 2008 dark brown and clear, no head, mild malt nose, slightly bitter on initial swig, then it milds out to a buttery toffee malt flavor, malt dominated flavor, tastes subtly roasty, a lil’ bit warming, a good ale but no stand out.
