Mild aroma of brown sugar. Sweet and bready beginning, yielding to a crispy hop aftertaste. Pretty balanced in spite of seeming sweet at first. Thin, quaffable palate. unrulythings (73), Portland, Oregon, USA

Nose is subtle with some malt and a little yeasty bread. Palate is toffee, bread and roasted sugary malt, with a touch of bitter hop in the finish. An interesting beer. Not great, but drinkable. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 18, 2009 Bottle at the brewery during RBSG09. Red-brown with a lasting head. Lots of brown sugar and caramel in the aroma. Sweet caramel and light roasted malt flavors with a bitter, hoppy finish. Medium bodied and sticky. Pretty typical of these guys in the ASA range; a bit too sweet, but still with plenty of hops. Not one of their better interpretations of this formula, but still pleasant enough. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Ruby pour with good tan head. Good lacing. Aroma lightly malty with a touch of hops-smells a little watered down. Flavor is malty with roasted malts apparent but alcohol is hidden. A good brown ale. Finishes nice with just enough hops to cleanse the palate. Good beer. Would be better with a more aggressive nose. mcart034 (35), Manassas, Virginia, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 4, 2008 From bottle pours out brown with a thin tan foam head that fades quickly. Aromas of caramel and slight hoppiness. The flavor is think with sweet toffee and raisin. Ends with a mild hoppiness. There is very little carbonation which makes the beer feel thick and sticky in the mouth. This beer is easy to drink but not that special either. BOLTZ7555 (1121), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Appearance is a nice mahogany with tan 1/2 inch head. Tried at the AZ Strong Beer Festival...but wish I would have used my ticket on another!!! Sweeter than expected...not of dark dried fruit but rather of "brighter" tropical varieties. These flavors shouldn’t be included in a Brown. I enjoyed the uniqueness, not the taste.
