3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 brenn79 (859) - Idaho, USA - JUL 22, 2011
22 oz. bottle- Pours a nice deep golden with a 1 finger fluffy white head, aroma is citrusy grapefruit, floral and melon. The flavor is the same, strong citrus grapefruit, kind of a tropical fruit vibe goin’ on. Very tasty, smooth, sessionable, could use a more bitter kick. The body is medium to kind of light (hence the sessionability), carbonation is medium, finish is sticky and little bitterness. Overall a different kind of a double IPA, especially for the west coast, which is known for their huge hop bombs, I was expecting a little more, but for what it is, pretty tasty stuff.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 mikehanneman (25) - Iowa, USA - JUL 22, 2011
I rate this IPA very high. Nice aroma, good appearance and the taste is different than any other IPA I have tried. Just an excellent IPA. The IBU is 72. I had a friend try it and he too thought they are putting more malt or something in the beer to give it a different, great taste.
One issue I have though. I called the brewery in Petaluma, CA to complain about the white stuff floating in the bottom. The beer was about 4 or 5 months old. The person I spoke to said the owner (he was reading it off something) claimed it was nothing other than protein and it was good for you. My son and I think that is a bunch of B S - this beer is 7.5% and after 120 to 150 days it should not exhibit white matter floating in the bottom of the bottle. It was kept in a closest in my basement.
So try this great IPA - but don’t let it sit around too long unless you want to drink some floating "protein".

Bottle. Glowing sunburst, predominantly orange. Heavy pine aroma, plus pineapple and white grapefruit. A wallop of flavour, very rich, with good bitter grapefruit and pine, plus a unique strawberry accent. A big beer that still has subtle nuances. Highly enjoyable.

12 fl oz bottle from Kihoskh, Copenhagen. My bottle says 7,5% ABV? Clear, golden/light amber liquid with small-medium, fluffy off-white head. Nice lacing. Hoppy aroma with notes of citrus, pine, hops and a nice caramely, almost burnt base. Very nice aroma indeed! Taste is quite malty with lots of bready, toasty, biscuity notes and medium-high bitterness. Also slightly higher sweetness than your average DIPA. Nice balance! Some alcohol as well, but not too disturbing. Medium bodied with maybe a bit low carbonation and lingering finish. Overall, well performed DIPA but considering the ABV it’s possibly not that style accurate. Well, well it’s good anyway!
